Roster Building From Here - FA and Summer of 2023

Hypothetically, who would you select with the 6th, 9th, and 10th picks? Mind you just "hypothetically"...
Prolly Ausar, then it’s the Black/Wallace/Hendricks group for me.

I’m worried about the shooting with walker but he’d be clearly someone considered at 6.

I think I’d be more excited about drafting 6th if Cam is there still. Otherwise I’m comfortable in the 8-10 spots.

I’m really just wanting to get one of Whitmore, Hendricks or Ausar and pair them with Wallace or Black.

If we stay at 9 I’m cool with Wallace or Black and grabbing one of the shooters as well. Think Tay Henny is gone by 9… but if he is there I may go with him then see what happens with the Minny pick.

Who's Tay Henny? Do you mean Hendo?

This probably a wild over-reaction but I am fine rolling into next year with Kris Dunn as a starting pg if we are unable to trade or sign someone meeting the need long-term at a fair price. Would be nice to have someone developing behind him like Wallace or Black... Kris was just so damn good for us and I imagine he'd be pretty solid still with the regular starters and not the tank squad.

I like Dunn a lot. Plays his game and doesn’t do too much. Great defender and his floater is automatic.

He always had a good first step... seems to have figured out how to gather and hit that in between shot (he is long) kinda like JC... he also can find the open man. Defense is very good. Great find.

It will be interesting to see how Dunn progresses next year. Teams will have him much better scouted. His offense is so heavily reliant on that mid paint push shot. His spot-up shot has gotten pretty deadly when left wide open, but he still looks incredibly uncomfortable shooting off the dribble from 3 or taking anything that is lightly contested out there.

Its a hard shot to stop and just getting into the teeth of the defense as a threat opens up the perimeter. I'd prefer he be a high level backup... but as a stopgap option while Wallace/Black get up to speed... I think he's pretty great.

I'd still be looking to make a big add at that spot but I wouldn't force it as much knowing I have at least one playable option.

You clearly cannot beat the best teams in a series with a smallish lead guard that is a turnstyle on defense even with elite defenders surrounding him. It rarely ever works clearly no matter how insane he is as a dynamic controller offensively. Maybe they will trade him for Luka smh

I don't feel the need to find all the puzzle pieces this off season. I think that can lead to mistakes at this stage in the team building process and I'm more concerned with making asset positive moves. If we draft/sign/trade for a PG, I hope it's because we think it's the BPA or a strong deal for the team and not to plug a hole. If we open next season with Dunn, THT, and Sexton it's fine as long as we used the resources well elsewhere.

Maybe that was not the best comparison, but I see a short player that doesn't seem to do much on offense or defense without the ball in his hands. I see someone who takes lots of ill advised shots when teammates are open. I see someone who doesn't make his teammates better. I know Clarkston has improved a lot this season at being more of a team player, but that hasn't always been true over his career.
I don’t think you’ve watched him that much. Most of this is erroneous
Trae is in theory ‘awesome’ with a ton of NBA players. Especially bigger ones. Still hasn’t really led to anything in his time with the Hawks.
ECF?? Hello??
Jazz are not going to blow up everything they did in the last year to make a run at Dame, Trae, or any other massive risk for a star with catastrophic shortcomings.

Unless something like a Luka trade possibility shakes loose this off-season, the Jazz are building in earnest.
I guess you are waiting for Leonard, Curry, or Durant to say they want to play for the jazz lmao.

You’re gonna love that I probably wouldn’t trade for them either. Can’t build something lasting by burning serious assets for dudes in their mid-30’s.

Build from scratch or cash in the draft chips for a young tier-one star if the possibility comes up. Otherwise, keep the powder dry. Those picks are for building, not burning.

We have the ability to be picky here… don’t want to pull a Minnesota.
