Yes, that’s where trading down comes into play, I can’t do that, but even then everyone else is a tier below, and at the end of the day this team’s NOT GOING ANYWHERE THIS COMING YEAR!!! So why do they all have to mesh now? Play them, let them progress. They either progress together and figure it out in a rebuilding year and figure out what to do laterAmen is a mystery box… if that mystery box also has projected fit issues with my other key building blocks then I’m considering what else is in a similar tier.
We disagree here so…Amen/Cam/Ausar/Walker likely all in a similar tier right now on quite a few draft boards imo.
The primary disagreement is on the player tier. I see no reason Amen is head and shoulders above the guys mentioned. While you can figure it out later it is harder to do and you will very likely get less in trade. It isn't about next year its about the next 3-4 years. I don't see that as a great environment to develop a guy either... with a couple other perimeter guys that want/need the ball and no spacing.Yes, that’s where trading down comes into play, I can’t do that, but even then everyone else is a tier below, and at the end of the day this team’s NOT GOING ANYWHERE THIS COMING YEAR!!! Just saying it is fun to watch the disagreement play out. Since you replied with text I will respond though. Personally, I am intrigued by Amen, Ausar, AND Cam and think most teams would love to have any of the three. The further away from contention my team was, I might be more prone to take the gamble though. I see Amen as more high risk high reward and Cam as someone I'm confident can impact a team positively but I'm unsure of how high his ceiling is. Both great choices. If I were Boston I would pick Cam, but if I were Detroit I would gamble on Amen.Yeah I don't think so... I think the primary disagreement is just I don't think Amen should be considered a tier better than Whitmore and maybe Ausar as well.
The more I look into Amen the more worried I get. If we landed at #4 I wouldn't blame us for taking him though... I get the intrigue for sure.
Of course this is about the next 3-4 years. I’ve been implying that. Rotfl. Do you think this roster is as is in 3-4 years? If so you might be right but the obvious answer is no it won’t be the same. The roster is ever changing. Again all these guys need time, some will pan out others the team will go in other directions over the next three years as in like wise others will be bright in through various resources. The primary disagreement is on the player tier. If you believe Amen is a tier above those guys then you made the right call drafting him. Your hands are tied in this scenario with a trade so I won't give you any ****. I don't think Detroit would go this route as their GM has to be running out of runway.

Yes... I know rosters change... but if you are building a team you need to consider how the primary building blocks will work together.Do you think this roster is as is in 3-4 years? If so you might be right but the obvious answer is no it won’t be the same. The roster is ever changing.
they need time and reps... but all three of Ivey, Amen, Cade will struggle to get the on ball reps they need to develop... and you need to make decisions about the guys as rookie deals end. This is the fourth year in a row they have been ***. You think they want to wait another 3-4 years to see what they have?Again all these guys need time, some will pan out others the team will go in other directions over the next three years as in like wise others will be bright in through various resources.
For sure. I just think Cam is being totally slept on and has big upside and a lower floor. Detroit will want progress this year so I think if they land #4 between fit, runway, etc. they would not draft Amen... either through trade or just taking a different dude.Just saying it is fun to watch the disagreement play out. The flipside is you have 2 more years of cheap Lauri and 3 more years of cheap Kessler. You burn one of those in a year with a draft that is really meh in 2024 (at least right now) and hope Amen develops... what if he has an injury or just sucks... for dudes with a higher development curve injuries are really catastrophic.I think there is a huge benefit of going to Amen and letting him have the keys as far as playmaking goes. It wouldn't hurt to "tank" one more year. Instead of trading Beasley/Conley/JV we end up trading some combo of Clarkson/Sexton/KO/THT when we can max their value then give the reigns to the draft picks.
