I dont know if they help or not but they dont make him a worse player. He still is a 30/9/8 guy. Aslo while I understand the black hole concerns.. I'd like to point out that JC is worse as a black hole (not only passes less, assists less but also scores with lower efficiency). Yes, JC passes less. In fact both are -12 on passes made vs passes received but JC's percentage is much worse since Luka touches the ball way more.

They dont have a system like we do in Dallas, so its hard to say how he would adapt to Hardy's style but at the very least he is a GIGANTIC upgrade over JC.
Agree he is an upgrade over JC, but at what cost? We have to remember though, their roles are completely different as well. JC is not the point man running the team, nor is he a "superstar." I agree that JC is as much of a black hole as Luka, but with the divergent roles, Luka's shows up much more than JC IMO because he does touch the ball more.

BTW, I thought that the Jazz should've traded JC at the deadline. Now they'll lose him for nothing.

Gay was living a fantasy all season. He literally has nothing to be salty about.

He also had no business seeing playing time for this team and should be eternally grateful to Hardy for still having something of an NBA career.
I think this is based off last year as he was in Quin’s dog house. He was in Hardy’s rotation all year

I thought I heard there wasn’t much of a market for him.

Kind of surprised Samanic is going.
As I mentioned in the Samanic thread, it is the only possibility for him to play remotely competetive matches during the summer, as Team Croatia didn't make it to the World Cup. He is fighting for his NBA career, so he must be able to showcase on some venue.

All other Jazz international players except Samanic and Udoka (if he still is a Jazz player in the summer, that is) will be playing in the World Cup, and of course in the preparing matches and the national team training camps. Kelly O will represent Canada, Simone F will represent Italy, Jordan C will represent Philippines and Lauri M will represent Finland. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Kessler and Sexton got an invite to Team USA training camp, but I wouldn't bet them to be in the actual Team USA in the World Cup (Team USA has a history of calling up to 25 players to the practice camps, with the "extra" players being potential future Team USA players).

FWIW, the international teams will have their training camps from (late) July and on to August. Teams have scheduled practice matches for the first half of August, and the actual World Cup begins 25th August (with the Final played on 10th of September). For example, Team USA will play from August 10th to August 20th vs Greece, Slovenia, Spain and Germany.

They're not making it public cause they're working out 10 centers that can't shoot, dribble, shoot a free throw, or catch a bounce pass.

I was on board with trading him as well especially since the goal wasnt to compete.. but I guess there werent many suitors and DA obviously doesnt care much about 2nd rounders.

And sometimes it’s better to just keep the player, make your offer and take the cap space instead of trying to finesse a trade with potentially bad salary coming back over.

Never discount the hand pads.
