2023 NBA Draft Megathread

True, but his team's entire game-plan was also setting screens for him to get open and a lot (dont have the exact number) of his 3's came off of UConn's excellent offensive rebounding ability.
the entire defensive game plan was to not let him get open - they had a guy face guard him all game and came at him with a second player if that guy got picked off. he simply didn't many good looks game to game. of the few good looks he got, a lot of them came off of offensive rebounds - but it's a small number to begin with.

locke loves him some stats - heck i do too - i'm a big stats/production guy. probably too big as a lot of the misses i've had over the years are due to me valuing production too much. but you have to supplement stats with actually watching games (not highlights, but full games). that's what locke doesn't do.

Its the same with Hollinger's board when it comes out... stats are helpful but it needs to be supplemented with scouting and projection. Its all a balance.

i've seen too much of strawther. just don't see him as an nba player. i also don't think you take hawkins top 10 and i might be his biggest fan.
At #9 I think Hawkins, Dick, Wallace, Hendricks, Black are all defendable.

I think that Dick would more likely be the surprise shooter that goes in the top 7... so I think Hawkins is less likely to go in the top 10. I think Hawkins is gone at 12 with OKC but who knows with them... they are full of surprises.

This is an interesting wrinkle I’ve never thought of. If you have enough defensive gravity pulling defenses out, it also might change the calculus on the impact of offensive rebounding.

Wemby
Scoot
Miller
Amen
Ausar
Whitmore
Walker
Hendricks
Dick

We are guaranteed one of these guys at the current moment.

Locke does that at a later point. I think his program idea for now is to do the stats dive then have the draft guy, Lief, come in and have the actual in depth scouting.

Just FYI, the mood of local sports radio in Salt Lake (specifically KSL with interviews of Thurl Bailey and other hosts) and their attitude around who might be on the team next season seem to suggest that Jordan Clarkson could decline his player option and move on in free agency. THT might do the same. They seem to be trying to subtly prepare their listeners in case the Jazz lose a couple of their 'fan favorite' players.

If that happens, I think Ainge has a plan.

IF that were to happen we'd have like 55M in space. I think JC signing here or sign and trade is the most likely scenario... so he doesn't walk for nothing. Unless his market is basically the same as the MLE then I don't see an obvious suitor. He should do better than that but full 4 year MLE is like 4/50... so if he went to LA or something for that it wouldn't be shocking I suppose.

I think its more likely than not JC is gone. I doubt THT declines his option, but maybe someone does a 2/20M for him or something like that... if so then see ya later homie.

Still wild to me that everyone is expecting JC won't be here but the Jazz didnt trade him.

THT is going to stay, opting out or opting in. He's a for life Jazz man.

We will get more in a sign and trade than we would have at the deadline. They tried to move him.
