2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I'm worried about Toronto blowing up this summer and acquiring additional picks. Guys like GG Jackson, Bilal Coulibaly and Sidy Cissoko are prototypical Masai Ujiri picks.

You said frequency not shot quickness.
Brother what are you blabbering about?

Collin Sexton struggles to shoot a higher frequency of catch and shoot 3's. That is partly do to his set catch and shoot jumper being slow (because when he catches the ball he's rarely thinking I'm shooting this, he's usually holding and waiting for the defense to close out).

I also think it’s in part because he doesn’t get enough good looks to have a higher frequency.

Maybe we are just overthinking Brice being a bad defender as a Freshman on a young OSU team (started 4 freshman for a lot of the season).

If I told you the Jazz could get an elite shooter, elite scorer, 7' wingspan, big body, and 19 years old at the 9th pick who would be mad?
Serious question, where are you seeing a 7’ wingspan?

Really hope he goes to the combine because I really think he’s shorter all around than what he’s listed as.

The term "3 level scorer" is thrown out there a lot, but Brice is actually a 3 level scorer. His finishing around the basket could be better, but his mid range game and 3 point shooting is at the top of the class. 50% from mid range with only 17% of those buckets assisted. That's amazing, and he gets it done in multiple different ways. His 3 point and FT shooting was almost identical to Dick's. Dude can put the ball in the basket. While his defense and physical limitations are not great, he is a really strong offensive prospect. It's rare to see a freshman be this good at self created offense. I think he can be a Warren/Bogey type and a lot of teams would be happy with that.

While I still wouldn't draft him at #9 personally, I do think people need to step outside the groupthink here and open up themselves to different perspectives. Brice is an edgy pick at 9, one that I would not make, but it's not that shocking.

Brice is a walking bucket. Can’t deny and would now concede he should be In play at 16 because he has a bankable skill set, but I did not see anyone last year get blocked at the rim more than Brice.

Very high level 2.5 level scorer. I think he struggles at the rim even more at the NBA level.

I think he’s probably like 6’4.5 without shoes and doubt he has a 7’0 wingspan.

Just a guess, but his arms seem very long. It's at least 6'10 IMO.

Yup. He doesn’t look a legit 6’6” to me, and doesn’t look really long either.

Again, depending on what we get with our first pick, he’d be In play for me at 16 because of a bankable skill.

I also think he’s the type of dude that’s out of a playoff rotation or very limited minutes In those situations. “Empty calories” I think @Handlogten's Heros calls it?

He also has really low assist numbers for his usage rate. Not particularly keen on ball hogs, especially if they can’t play defense. Players like that are subtraction by addition half the time.

IMO, Sexton isn't good enough to plan your roster around.
Who said anyone would plan their roster around sexton? I saw eliza simply say that if the jazz drafted black that he could fit well with sexton. That doesn't mean if the jazz draft black ITS BECAUSE he fits well with sexton.

I'm listening to David Locke stuff. So to summarize, he likes Brandon Miller, Cam Whitmore, Gradey Dick, Jordan Hawkins, Taylor Hendricks, Brice Sensabaugh, Kobe Bufkin, Jalen Wilson so far....

He has concerns about Nick Smith, Anthony Black, Jalen Hood-Schifino and Keyonte George due to some combination of poor shooting and athleticism.
i mostly agree with those. but i have concerns about everybody other than brandon miller. guys in the second list have the biggest concerns - but i could see all them being awesome.
