It;s just agent strategy.I do wonder why Clowney was missing this year, I thought he'd measure well and do well in testing. Maybe he wouldn't have? Did not strike me as a guy looked shorter or smaller than what he was listed at.
It;s just agent strategy.
When it comes in connection with a surprising vertical leap I think its okay to raise an eyebrow. I'm sure there is some differences in body makeup and also how flexible/stretched out someone might be I suppose... but some of it is sandbagging to make the vert pop.I don't find those numbers particularly suspicious. The human body has all kinds of shapes and sizes.
I think it's more about controlling where he goes to the best of their ability. I guess they arent too worried about him getting paid next season.I know, but Clowney is one of the last guys I'd expect it to be good strategy to not measure.
What I find suspicious is the notion that vertical jump will be a more important number than standing reach for draft stock. NBA players spend most of the game on their feet. When it comes in connection with a surprising vertical leap I think its okay to raise an eyebrow. I truly don't care all that much.
Matters a lot if your primary offense is being a lob threat, but that's probably about it. Even shot-blocking, while having a large vert and reach helps, is more about timing and how quickly you can jump/move rather than absolute height. What I find suspicious is the notion that vertical reach will be a more important number than standing reach for draft stock. I agree... but a lot of times people equate athleticism with vertical leap. So for a guard or wing they might sacrifice a little on standing reach to get there. Size is typically remembered as height and wingspan... people look at standing reach but its not what is remembered. So rob Peter to pay Paul... if you think people will forget Peter and prefer Paul getting paid? What I find suspicious is the notion that vertical jump will be a more important number than standing reach for draft stock. I bet if you looked at the top 25% and bottom 25% of vertical athletic testing for each combine, the top 25% would have more NBA players in it than the bottom.Vertical leap is more important than standing reach because it's more fun to talk about. If you get the highest vert you're definitely catching a headline. That's about it. Doesn't matter as much as we make it out to be.
Trey Lyles flashbacksJust learned what proprioception means. Every day is a school day!

What was Zach Edey measurements?Measurements winners are: (these are relative to my personal expectations)
- The Twins
- GG Jackson (Beat the short wingspan relative to height allegations)
- JHS (just a massive bodied and long PG)
- Maxwell Lewis
- Ryan Rupert (+8'' wingspan holy moly)
- Jarace Walker (absolute tank of a human with elite length)
- Dariq Whitehead (came in taller than I thought)
- Zach Edey (my god)
- OMP
- Mo Gueye
Losers:
- Taylor Hendricks (came up lacking on the wingspan after it being rumored it was 7'3 and was shorter than expected)
- Mike Miles (rare to see a negative wingspan on a 6' player)
- Jordan Hawkins (thought he'd have a longer wingspan)
- Sidy Cissoko (after being told he was 6'8 by Pooh Jeter, 6'5.5 is underwhelming)
- Judah Mintz (probably one of the guys I've watched the least, but in the limited time I've seen him I thought of him as being a long-armed player, but is only + 0.5'')
bigWhat was Zach Edey measurements?
Nevermind, just looked it up with the link numb provided. Holy ****!What was Zach Edey measurements?
Best point on the topic.he cant control a rumored wingspan so calling it a fail that he didn't reach that is dumb.
You arent a real Jazz fan if you dont know what proprioception is. I shouldnt have to explain it to you. Real ones know.proprioception?
