2023 NBA Combine Thread

Basketball is pretty ugly when you've got these unathletic, traditional bigs clogging the paint.

Disagree. Dumb not to play. Look at what Jalen Williams did for himself last year.
he just played an entire season with fringe nba players in the g league and played great. iow, he's already proven himself against that type of competition. he has nothing to gain by playing in two or three scrimmages against different fringe nba players and future g leaguers.

Main standout was Wong.

Bailey had some good passes and just generally looked comfortable out there, but didnt do much offensively and got 2 or 3 of his shots blocked.

Wong's team played really well together and everyone on the court did a good job of sticking to their strengths.

Walsh is still an absolute negative on offense.

Sanogo looks a bit lighter/quicker than he did at UConn.

OMP looks massive. Is going to get a lot of buzz just because he looks the part to a T.

Dillon Mitchell is actually attempting things on offense and it's wild to watch after seeing him be invisible at UT. Will definitely get drafted.

That's just flat out wrong. The combine scrimmages have proven year after year that if you really stand out in that setting it will boost your draft stock.

Amari when making the right play, keeping the offense moving = Great
Amari when needed to make something out of nothing = Close your eyes

lol. not for a guy who has already shown he can dominate the g league. dominating more future g leaguers doesn't change anything.
Yeah, completely disagree again. The combine scrimmages have categorically shown to boost your stock. Miller isnt a guaranteed top 20 guy. He could have changed that today.

His agent likely got intel that he is a lock to go in the teens. No need to play and risk injury.

Isaiah Wong is ****ing good
when he's good, he's good. when he's bad, he effing sucks. that's always been the problem with wong - he's wildly inconsistent. he had games this season of 1-7 FGs, 1-11, 1-8, 2-8, 1-9, 1-10. plenty of other poor shooting games (like anybody), but that's a more than a handful of games where he couldn't throw the ball in the ocean and was completely useless. but then he also had games where he scored 27, 25, 36, 27. i wanted to like him all season then he kept throwing up these complete stinkers and i just couldn't come around.

give me one example of these scrimmages boosting the stock of a top prospect who was great over the course of an entire g league season.

Also think there is a lot of value to pick up basketball setting to see who looks comfortable in a new setting. Basketball IQ really shines through in these settings. Cream rises to the top.

Even though Bailey didnt have a great first half, I would say he left a good impression on me just with his pace and feel for the game. And now he's starting to score in the 2nd half.
