2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Interestingly, if you disregard Anthony Black’s 3 point misses, he’s 100% from 3 in his freshman year. So I don’t understand why people are worried about his shooting. Same for Wallace. Just ignore the 5 missing inches and he’s not undersized. He’s as tall as Magic!
huh? unless he's a 6'9" pg, he's undersized? why does one need to ignore 5 supposed missing inches. 6'4" with his length is good size for a PG. no need to ignore anything.

I been saying this... the next steps are much harder and you've fed his ego a couple million dollars on top of it.

That's all I'm trying to say... as VP of the Tay Henny fan club if he shot poorly in a workout I wouldn't be like "well his reps should have made the workout easier".

I'm not convinced by workouts either way.

You are higher on Hendricks than me, but you are at least aware of the strengths/weaknesses. When you're bending over backwards and saying that the air is too tough for him it really feels like blind favoritism. It's hard to take seriously.

IMO, it's pretty clear why the "hard shots" is a bad thing. It's not just because he missed them and was gassed, it's because he's doubling down on this playstyle and his bad habits. Even if you think this guy is the most talented player in the world he has questions about his mentality and it's not a good look. Workouts are kinda BS and are literally a PR event...but if he came in in super shape, knocked down shots, had a lot of energy (basically what Keyonte did) I could see buying into the hype.

It's PR...so sell me on a version of that's different from the disaster that was his time at South Carolina. Do we really need to reinforce the crappy stuff and follow up excuses with why it doesn't matter?

Completely agree, but some here consider him undersized. We’re just using ‘ignore all the downsides’ now as our draft strategy.
Look if Cason was repped by Rich Paul he’d have measured at 6’7” at least.

I thought he was in, then he was out.

Whoa… I thought black was a perfect fit for Orlando? Thought that was where you were headed.

If we took Ausar I’d prolly roll with Wallace as he has less shooting questions. Black and Ausar would be a nice draft though.
That’s what I thought initially that quickly realized he was probably going to pick black for the jazz
I absolutely love Ausar. I want him to slip to 9th so badly.
Not going to happen teams will rise up by the time the draft begins

People have any thoughts on Eli Ndiaye? He is a very young forward (still 18 years old, 6'8"?), who shows very good defensive potential. He played limited minutes for Real Madrid this year. Interesting that even in the Euroleague final 4, including the final, he still got to play for a small stretch of time. His offensive role will probably be limited...

Wonder if we can buy a second rounder and stash him... Or give him one of our two ways...

Did he enter the draft?

Jazz Specific Draft Wishlist:
(Guys I like and don't like, specifically for the Jazz within their expected range)

Please Draft:
- Cason Wallace - The missing piece
- Kobe Bufkin - All around great
- Keyonte George - Especially if he's there at 16 (I've done a full 180 on him)

Please Don't Draft:
- Ausar Thompson - I could be wrong, I don't think anybody really knows
- Anthony Black - I actually like him, just not for the Jazz
- Nick Smith Jr. - We don't need that

Decided to see what all the fuss is about. Watching full game of GG Jackson(vs Alabama)...

edit1: Dammit... I see it... I see the appeal...

...at the same time... I see the rawness too...

edit2:Urgh.... I think I'd take him at 16... WIth the absolute acknowledgement that he might be a complete bust and be out of the league by the end of his rookie deal. I just... don't think you get this type of talent that often outside the lottery. You owe it to your coaches to give them that ball of clay and see what they can mold out of it. And I think I will disagree with @KqWIN here - I think you HAVE TO at least try to develop his on-ball game. Yes, it's not efficient and it's all over the place right now. But there is more talent there than pretty much any of the on-ball non-guards in this draft(maybe except for Miller).

edit3: I love his reactions to his teammates scoring. He seems invested in their success too...

Utah can afford a few misses on big swings and the rookie deals being constructed the way they are makes the risk very minimal.

Yep... but you need to have a plan for him. You don't draft him just to see what happens. The coaching staff has to have concrete plan about his development, and quite possibly make some sacrifices in order to see it through...
