2023 NBA Draft Megathread

His off the dribble and mid-range game is severely lacking. His best scoring ability is driving and finishing. Will he be respectable from open 3? I think so.

It is ok to talk about the negatives of your favorite prospects guys… just wanted to point that out.
For sure... I am doing point counterpoint. I think he has the form and the threat of the drive will leave him as a good shooter. Elite is a reach. I don't see Okoro at all like the No Ceilings guys mentioned. Okoro is left wide *** open and can't really punish close outs... I think Cam will be worlds better at both of those things.

He's not a can't miss prospect in that he will be an all-star type... but I would be shocked if he didn't become at least a solid starter if healthy.

If we’re playing that game I would have liked to see any Arkansas player not play for Arkansas.
By far the team I was most disappointed watching. They had the one kid who was bonkers athletic get hurt, but I was salivating at what they had early in the season and watching them was like going to the dentist at times.

After watching his podcasts, I think Locke believes that Hendrix is available at 9 and we should take him. He also seems to think Black and Wallace will be gone by 16 so Bufkin should be our pick there. That could be a pretty nice draft if we don't move up.
That would be pretty great actually. Im totally on board with hendricks and bufkin.

The two No Ceilings guys who do the film dives are definitely lower on Cam than most of this board (both have him at 9).

Don't really buy him as a 3 level scorer. Midrange game is poor. They have questions on 3 form, but nothing that isn't workable, but not high on it. Very low on playmaking potential.
Regarding the mid range game, I dont want him taking many mid range shots anyways. Get to the hoop, get to the line, and knock down threes and im pretty happy with that.

I think there is a decent chance the guy we draft this year could be that guy for us. It's a skill I would like to have on the team and is worth developing and not ignoring like the Quin era did.

I don't have a super high interest in doing the highly optimized math offense again.
Sexton is very very good in the midrange. I dont have the stats but he seemed elite in that regard to me from watching the games.

Mid range game is for stars or guys like Book (also a star) that shoot like 60% there. It gets super hyped this time of year because the teams at the end of the season are generally going to have some midrange ability and everyone has had their first and second options scouted out. Its not something that should be overlooked, but I also think Lauri could be a mid range killer if he needed to or we needed scoring in that are of the court.

I saw this comment made about Brice....scoring versatility at the college level is also another way of saying you don't have the athleticism/talent to get premium shots. There's some truth to that imo.

That offense was one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen lol.

Pass and screen get in the way.
Then drive to nowhere, kickout to open ****** shooter, pump fake and drive to nowhere, kick out to open shooter... ball ends up with Ricky Council... who takes a bad shot.

If there's an open lane to the basket it is a requirement that a wing run in an clog the lane.

I can’t tell if OKC is sweet on Bilal or Bufkin… Bilal makes more sense but Bufkin was working with SGA in OKC and the Down to Dunk guys seem to have planted their flag on Kobe.

I think if you want Kobe you plan on getting him in front of OKC. I would support drafting him at 9 a lot more than JHS who is a meh choice at 16 imo.

Personally, I think OKC is high on Keyonte George and Jordan Hawkins and they're looking at all kinds of scenarios to move around. They want a weapon shooter next to Shai and Giddey. They might take Dick if he were available at #12, but he's not expected to be.

A team to watch for Bufkin is Toronto.

You’re pulling posts right out of my brain fr.

Shots at the rim, 3-pointers, and free throws are your meat and potatoes (so to speak) shots. That’s where you get all your basic nutrition to build a diet. Mid-range is like salt or a side-salad. That doesn’t diminish mid-range, it is an analogy that salt or a side-salad is not something you can live on.

and then the few times they'd run a clean action Black would drop the ball to a big who would fumble and either turn it over or miss the layup.

I love Black... but he either is overrated and was a main contributor to their lack of offensive success or he will thrive and we will all look completely dumb because of course their spacing was awful. I kid but I am amazed they won as much as they did with the **** show offense they had.

Bufkin fits just about everywhere... so I think any team could take him. Would guess there is a 10% chance he is there at 16 maybe.

I know you like him a lot but to be an elite scorer you need to have a mid-range game.

Donovan is awesome at mid-range, SGA, KD, etc. I think you need to have one to be an elite scorer.
