2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Apparently the mavs draft Twitter account says they love Anthony Black and also are unlikely to trade back to get off of THJ or Bertans deal. Interesting.

Well, that sucks. I apologize. I really wanted to see how you explain the reasoning behind “you can’t take Cam criticism” while I was dishing out Cam criticism in the same posts(sometimes same sentences). Would have been funny.

People can have disagreements, but you don’t get to make up a reason for why they disagree with you.

I just couldn’t think of a rational explanation besides that for defending a guy so hard when he has putrid off the dribble, mid-range and three-point shooting just because he is elite at driving and rim finishing. My bad, if you had genuine intentions I apologize for putting you in that box.

Cam is ****ing amazing at getting to the rim and driving. If that is all he can do in the league he is going to be very one dimensional offensively. It’s really not that hard to understand. He will need to improve his mid-range game and his three-point shooting to really become an elite scorer that people are projecting him to be. It’s that ****ing simple.
He does have a very nice stroke though. Great form. I think you probably agree that he will likely be a good enough shooter
If scouts thought he couldn't shoot, couldn't and wouldn't pass, wasn't a good defender etc then he probably wouldn't be drafted so high.
His shot is quite beautiful and I think that's why most people aren't worried about his shooting

It's not necessarily important what the percentages are. It's your footwork, balance, understanding of space, your ability to create space, etc.

If 22/80 (27.5%) on shots off the dribble and 34.3% from 3 overall is good enough to you because he is elite at driving and finishing then I have nothing else to say to you.
It's not just good enough to us. It's good enough for most all mocks to have him top 5. So NBA executives think it's fine apparently

Is there a more snowflake move than for a grown *** man to put another on ignore? I submit the answer is no.
Ehh, it's pretty mature. If there is a poster you dont want to interact with and it's always a negative interaciton, just put them on ignore. I personally dont want to read paragraphs of nothing in the draft threads so I put Kqwin on ignore.

Well, you should have taken a hint that if I’m willing to criticize Cam in the same sentence it’s probably not that I’m unwilling to criticize Cam.

The mid range thing isn’t even about Cam, it’s just not one of the things I prioritize as it is the least efficient way to score. I also believe that if you can’t get to basket it’s likely a skill limitation because if players could, they would.

There’s a reason I like Cam, who only shoots shots at the rim/3, and dislike a player who is super mid range heavy like JHS. Getting to the basket off the dribble is very premium skill for me. I will almost always prefer the guy who can get to the rim over the guy who has to take a floater instead. Everyone knows I like Bilal, a big reason why is that he’s all dunks, 3’s, and FT’s. It’s the skillset I value not Cam in particular.

Yup, for some of these kids, it’s more about mechanics than percentages - they are just so young and so far from being finished products - often times the better question is whether their stroke is one that allows for a guy to become a good shooter.

It’s kinda funny he thinks an 80 shot sample size by an 18 yo is going to sway gms when they’ve been watching him since HS, team USA, workouts, etc, and they understand that 18 year olds are raw with ridiculous room for improvement.

What are you talking about? He’s literally 4th on my big board lmao. I’m merely bringing up concerns I have.
