2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Here's another hypothetical. Portland calls you and offers you 3(Scoot) for 9+Walker Kessler. Take it or leave it?

What if I told you you can get Dereck Lively II at 16(or with small trade up using 28) to replace Kessler?

If you told me we all had to send us 9/16/Kessler and we end up with Scoot/Lively I would do it and I love Kessler.

From a business stand point, I’d probably do it. But I’m very attached to Kessler, so from the gut I’d say no.

that one hurts a lot but I think you probably do it. I doubt Portland would though and I'd guess they have better offers for Scoot. Centers aren't a dime a dozen and I am not sure Lively is as good or better than Kessler... but you can find a useful center.

I am excited to see where Kessler goes from here. I get he isn't crazy upside but some of the finishing stuff was really good and I wonder what else can be teased out.

I agree with all of this but Scoot is just on a different level and I would have to do it even though it would be painful.

It would be giving up on something good for something potentially great... but it would make me feel sad to break up the ivory towers.

The first time Scoot smashed on someone I'd probably get over it.

I think there is something to having guys that genuinely like each other and play well together like Lauri/Kessler.
I would agree see Jokic/Murray (or Jokic anyone I suppose).

Locke did 9 for 12+our own pick next year back(from OKC) in his the Locked on network mock draft.

Not trying to be a hater, but these highlights are impressive from a getting to the rim, but also highlight his reluctance to shoot and how much space he was given at the college level. People talk about the lack of spacing at Arkansas, but Black was one of the main reasons for that lack of spacing.
It is a chicken and egg thing to a point... but not included on this reel are the infinity times he drove and kicked to an open shooter after the defense collapsed... then that shooter would pump fake and drive again.

Everyone looks better in space and Black will have to shoot it... but NBA teams should be able to better take advantage of his rim pressure.
