2023 Trade Rumors and Gossip Involving the Jazz

The main factor here is that Indiana needs to set their sights on Taylor Hendricks or Gradey Dick, and then be confident they can get their guy at #9 because everyone knows Washington is taking Black or Bufkin. That would make sense if shooting is a priority for the Pacers.

FWIW, the Jazz already did workout Cam Whitmore and Jarace Walker this week. So, imo, the possibility of moving up to 6 or 7 may have been on the table for a week now.

The tell will be if Amen comes in to workout with the Jazz.

I doubt either Thompson twin comes in for a workout but you never know.

Do you think Workouts are on-demand like that? I assume Cam and Jarace had their workouts scheduled weeks in advance. Cam worked out for us early is his process.

They can be, yes. Agents know their players' draft ranges and agree to workouts accordingly. Maybe Cam and Jarace thought the Jazz were in their range, but neither looks like they'll get past 7 at this point.

Jazz would tell Amen's agent, "We have the ability to trade up a few spots to draft Amen at 6 or 7. We'd like him to come in." The agent can decide if it's worthwhile. The Jazz would probably try to keep this quiet though and not publicize the workout.

The Jazz are in a position to make a move because Hendricks, Dick, Bufkin and Bilal are reasonable picks for teams starting at #6 or #7, and the Jazz have extra draft capital to burn.

It’s just kind of bleh. Most of the country east of the Mississippi is soggy whatever. And since it’s not a real major city or a cultural epicenter, it doesn’t have the cool/wow/fun factor of New York/Brooklyn, Chicago, DC, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Philly, even Toronto. It’s also got serious winters and isn’t even situated on a major body of water (certainly different than Orlando but also Milwaukee, Detroit, and even Cleveland). I’d put it near the bottom of cities that hosts an NBA team for those reasons.

This is as much or more about how nice SLC is as it is anything else. But then I edited the post above and stick by it. I mean no offense.
Foot in mouth post tight there. Ha ha!

Indy is farms and bedrock where there isn't farms. Unless a nba prospect is also an AG major obsessed with Hoosiers, and have a desire to own a piece of the roughly 12 million acres of Corn fields or other crops that Indiana has to offer vs slightly over 1 million hayfields in Utah. I think its a nothing doughnut with a nothing burger stuffed in it's nothing hole
Northern Indiana is amazing. The state dunes park, the lake, and you are 30 minutes from Chicago. Although Gary is a total hole for humanity.

I drove 2/3rds of the state 2 years ago. Indianapolis was fine. Most of the state is corn fields.

Never been to Houston, but Austin and Dallas were both nice. I could easily see it ending up on my negative cities list though.

I grew up in Illinois, and have been to Chicago multiple times. I personally hate it, and would hate to live there. Wrigley Field is nice, but I did not like my time in Chicago at all. Illinois in general is a dismal place to be. I’d take SLC 10/10 times over Chicago.
I love visiting Chicago. I went spring of the pandemic and had the entire city to myself. Riding a rented bike all over that town was a blast.

General Rumors:

** Jazz are perceived to be Jarace Walker's floor at #9.
** Jazz reportedly have Anthony Black high on their board, but he's likely to go in the top 8.
** Utah and OKC have reps in Monaco to watch Bilal Coulibaly this week.
** Rafael Barlowe thinks Bilal Coulibaly is in play for Utah at #9.
** Jazz are dangling #16 and #28 to move up a few spots into the lottery. Target is likely a guard (e.g., Bufkin, George, Wallace, JHS, NSJ)
** Detroit is discussing a trade with Dallas, sending Bojan Bogdanovic for the #10 pick. (ouch)
** Kobe Bufkin has been selective about where he's been willing to workout. Draft range could be 8 - 17.
** Minnesota is expected to trade Karl Anthony Towns by early in the free-agency period.
** Washington is expected to do a full rebuild. Brad Beal is available for trade, but will need to waive his no-trade clause.
** Golden State is exploring options to trade Kuminga for a draft pick.
** Dynasty era may be ending in Golden State. Draymond expected to move on in free agency.
** James Harden reportedly torn between Houston and Philly, but may just be posturing to get the bag.
** Phoenix may waive and stretch Chris Paul, making him a free agent.
** FVV and GTJ expected to leave Toronto in free agency.
Bogey would look good in dallas imo

If Wiz are tearing **** down maybe a 9, 28 for 8 and Monte Morris deal works. Saves some dough… they get the leftovers… Morris is like the perfect stopgap pg if we do draft a pg. May just keep him around.
Dunn is the perfect stopgap pg imo.
