2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Who is Thulein? I guess we will see how good his intel is on Thursday.
He's the guy on his podcast. Works with the Jazz (radio I think). Not saying he's the one feeding him the info, but he probably has more insider Jazz insight than the typical draft person.

I will say that I have never been more interested in Kris Murray so that's fun.

Also, I wasn't sure what to make of Jaquez until it just dawned on me that the Jazz need a glue guy as much or more than they need any other player type.

I want another pick.
Him and Hendricks have the same exact size fyi (or within an inch of each other).

Are those measurements without shoes? Bilal is 6'8inches with shoes but anyway. He would have to grow 3.5 inches and not 5. What is Giannis Wing span and vertical jump.
Giannis is 6'11" without shoes i believe. So, 5. 1/4 inches shorter.

Giannis has a 7'3" wingspan according to Wikipedia. Also, a quick Google search suggested a 40" vertical jump which is 7" more than Bilal.

Some meaningful differences yo.

The Jazz are obviously interested in Bilal. I don't think it's a huge leap to think we would take him at 9, although it mostly feels like there is a game going on between us and OKC.

My guess/hope is we wouldn't take him that early. I am kind of coming around on him though, and I'm seeing a role he could play in the league. I just think there is too much risk with not enough upside at 9.

TJD could be an under the radar late 1st/early 2nd dude that way out plays his draft position if he gets in the right spot.
His passing is good for a big but beyond being a rebound machine that gets him onto a roster, I doubt there is a path for him to be a starter in the league without better defense given the lack of offense

If this was a poor draft I could see a team buying the hype a bit more and reaching. There is simply too much talent for them to take that chance for a guy that is years down the line to making a impact.

How are you so sure they are any more interested than anyone else in the draft? I think our interest probably starts after the top 12 prospects are off our board, and he isn't one of them.
But, given the longshot potential, I can see the attention to his upside possibly giving Danny a push to swing for it ,over say more readily available archetypes

Some interesting information about Giannis measurements. He actually grew 2 1/2 and put on 20 plus pounds of weight over the summer. So his nickname is the "The Freak". So while Bilal is currently one inch less in wingspan and 2 inches in vertical, he too could continue to grow. So the fact that he is slightly less than Giannis is still impressive because according to P3 Giannis truly is one of the best they ever measured. I don't know if Bilal has the drive to be great like Giannis but physically Bilals is pretty impressive too.

Sometimes people get hung up on the rankings of a player. I would like to get Bilal but 9 seems too high for me but if you try to get him at 16 you have a real chance of him getting selected before 16. You can try to move up but that is not always easy. So a team has to decide to pass or grab him higher one would normally take the player. This might be the case with Bilal.
