2023 NBA Draft Megathread

The week of the draft is definitely the most fun. Starting tomorrow there should be a lot of rumors pouring out. Workouts should pretty much be over with by now.
I also think we have at least one trade early in the week… with Beal… there might be a couple others.

I agree, they show only the best stuff, and if the best stuff is shooting at a standstill then maybe it’s not great.
I dunno I feel like if say he comes to us and had a fantastic day shooting, then you’re not gonna wanna show that cos then other teams would be in the know too.

Then who’s leaking that he’s having great workouts and why are they leaking it?

I don't think there's anyone Dallas can trade #10 for that will keep Luka in Dallas. Guys like John Collins and Lu Dort aren't going to change that franchise.
In all honesty, if they’re going to open up the bank for Kyrie, they should call Toronto about OG or Siakam and just screw up their cap for the next several years. Go get a big 3 when everyone else is trying to shed contracts. Pay the tax and hope that’s enough to keep Luka happy.

I would be pretty stoked about that draft.

Speaking of stoked, i miss that dude. I hope he is ok
Im just gonna start referring to jhs as “long two”
He seems to love to take long twos. I hate that
I had this thought yesterday while watching his scouting video, but he plays a lot like Tony Parker. If he can use it as a weapon like Parker would you still hate that? Now I’m not say he’s Tony Parker or anything but that wouldn’t be so bad… so long as he’s efficient.

Then who’s leaking that he’s having great workouts and why are they leaking it?
If I was his camp, knowing it is the biggest knock on the guy I am rep'n going forward, I would pump as much smoke into the atmosphere as possible, to get someone, anyone, to think maybe they missed something if he didn't work out for them and they are going on only college stats as a shooter on low attempts. I also might pump up his value if I was the Jazz and Danny Ainge hoping some org out of the loop decides to try to trade up, leaving the guy we really wanted there for us at 9 or if he slides to 9 give us trade down power etc.
If he is in fact taking and making a ton of uncontested shots in an empty gym, that should concern everyone even more, given he was terrible in that regard in a team setting. Now you are drafting a mental case or some ****

Cuz he’s like a huge project and they ain’t got time for that… same reason they are likely to trade back with anyone… but especially him.
If he is the bpa they might. He could have more trade value a month later than anyone else they could draft at that point. But yeah Dallas is most likely trading down to pick up a cheap young big . I expect they could move back a couple picks to do just that.

Dalls is in win now mode. Bilal is a project. If you're Dallas you trade the 10 for someone who can keep luca in Dallas. The biggest project in the top 17 players isn't that guy.
Nobody they pick at 10 is going to help them much as a rookie unless they overpick them, and there is a significant chance they just trade down to late lottery or 6 spots to get some type of front court help on the cheap like Precious from the Raps or maybe Larry Nance Jr from NOP and then draft a older prospect.

The betting favorites at 9 currently are Hendricks at +330 and Black at +380.

Nobody else is better than +600 besides those two.

Cason +600
Dick +600
Bufkin +650
Jarace +1000
Bilal +1000
Ausar +1300
JHS +2100

Starting to wonder if this draft is as talented as we all think, just read on ESPN that Indy is wanting to move out of the seventh spot. I have heard several teams in the top 10 are wanting to move out or down. Portland, Detroit, etc. I think I am ready for the draft to happen, too much analysis and speculation. Thursday cannot come soon enough.

It is definitely as good as we think. The problem is there isn’t much separating guys from 4-9 so teams probably feel like they can get the guy they like a few spots lower.

Several podcasts I have listened to felt like the very top of the draft is ver special and that the 10 - 17 is pretty meh and that there is a huge let down after 17.

One point they made is that there were lots of injuries that were previously highly touted (Dariq Whitehead, NSJ, etc) and also that some of the players that dropped out hurt the depth of the draft. Not sure I agree, just relaying the content.

I think a lot of players in the draft look very intriguing. I am also way low on Keyonte George after some other commentary about his lack of ability to create separation without over dribbling. If we grab a combo guard I think there are much more intriguing players.
