In the end Bilal played against higher competition in higher stake games than most players in the draft. It was a small sample size, but gives me a lot more confidence than if he had only played in the French Jr. League. I think he still projects to be a role player and is still too risky at 9, but I'm personally backing off my position that he has super high bust potential.Even more hilarious if Bilal is never good in the NBA.
It feels like historically this is where teams take swings and they almost never pan out. Teams in the lottery are looking for that guy that can put them over the top, but realistically the back end of the lottery is going to get you a rotation player, if you pick well.If you miss on 9 cuz you're obsessed with taking a swing, there is a real chance the Jazz walk away with nothing from this draft. Nothing.
Sam Vecenie said he would consider 16+28+Something else for #10 if he was Dallas.
DIdnt really specify what that would be, but I think that's something Utah would do pretty easily if the other thing is just one of their future picks.
Yeah, you arent drafting Bilal for his ISO game. You're drafting him because he's a high IQ defender w/ elite length/athleticism (and potentially growing) and has displayed he can play a role offensively.Bilal's ISO game away from the rim is a hot mess. Just stating a fact. It is a common problem but it is what it is.

I dont buy him as having a ton of bust potential given the fact he is contributing intagible/role player attributes at an early age.
Bilal going 9 is literally the worst timeline. That means we passed on someone good and reached hard. Then we’d never hear the end of it from Ferg and Cy.

How is Bilal any more risky than Ausar Thompson?
Bilal is 1.5 years younger, more or less equals athletically, longer, and contributed to a professional team that made the Finals in a decent league.
Orlando fans (some of them at least) seem to think that Amen Thompson is going to be available at #6, meaning that Cam Whitmore would go to Houston at #4 and Jarace Walker likely goes to Detroit at #5. Thompsons could go back-to-back at 6 and 7.
If you draft Bilal and Ausar 9/10 you can get the upside creator and the upside off-ball player.
if you are swinging , picking well is not in the equation at the time you hand in the card lolIf you pick well.
I'm happier swinging at 16 and/or 28.
