2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Wonder if closer to the draft teams would get cold feet with he twins shooting?

With the info about Black potentially rising to #4 too.

Could see Amen and Austar dropping to us.

Now sure how I would feel about picking them up.
I'd pick them if I felt they would retain their value over the next two years in the marketplace - thinking rebuild - and opportunistically trade them. If you feel they won't even do that then avoid them.

And the thinking would be Ausur cancelled his workouts because he was starting to look bad not a promise.

But hey we are making Dunn work, we can make Ausur work. Just surround him with shooting. You may have to trade Walker long-term though.

Just watched Leif on Locked on Jazz.. he did mention the twins shooting in workouts were so bad they stopped and moved onto other drills..

Wasn’t sure I heard it right,, but man that sounded ugly.

I understand if you're out on all 3....but I really think it's a valid question as to why we're so sure about the Twins being top 6 picks while Bilal makes some queasy at #9. Again, I understand why Bilal might be everyone's type of prospect....but there are two much bigger mystery boxes being drafted ahead of him. If you're who's better between Bilal and Ausar, for example, it's kinda all speculation especially for those who are watching their workouts. But if they're not doing well in workouts....what are we basing their case off of?

And this is not me saying Bilal should go ahead of them, but maybe they should be going where Bilal is being drafted. If there's a "surprise" on draft night, I think it will be someone like Black, Walker, Hendricks, Dick being drafted ahead of them. I think those are all really good prospects and the teams ahead of us desperately need players like them.

It only takes one team....but I feel like the Twins could very easily slide if they miss their initial destination.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to draft players you think you’ll end up trading..

Gun to my head right now I’m more leaning Black/Henricks over the Thompson twins.. lol..

Look on the tape I saw he gets no separation. He gets his shot off still because he's a big guard. I'd guess the guys guarding him in the NBA will bother some of that. With an open court (the old nba space is the cure-all) maybe he can get some more paint finishes.

I think most people consider him polarizing. I don't think hes so terrible he can't figure some stuff out... but at 16 I would find better bets. At 9... give me a damn break. i think people get it... I would be elated if someone took him between 10-15.

JHS gets no separation or elevation. No burst and he doesn't have great craft around the basket either. He's not Ingles who can finish at the basket on the ground, he gets his **** blocked so much. I do get why people like his film though. He ratio of good things to bad things is fairly strong and his work in the mid range is very smooth, but he's also one of those guys that you think played well but then you look at the box score and he's 5-16 with 11 points. I think he is the ultimate Tony Jones prospect where he would look amazing in a pickup game. He's also had some really impressive shooting games where he's hitting so many tough shots....but when I watch those games it just looks like he's getting hot and it doesn't look sustainable. It aesthetically pleasing....but not what leads to consistent, efficient offense imo.

I don't even know what to think of the "promise zone" behind us....but I really hope JHS gets picked in that range. If he pushes back Bufkin, Bilal, or Wallace I'd be very pleased.

The twins scare me… but then I think of spending capital to move up and I’m not sure who I’d even pick. I don’t envy the Jazz front office this week.

As the resident biggest Sensebaugh hater on this board for the last few months, Im now going full Cy and thinking he's being underrated now.

Being left off a ton of mocks in the 1st round lately. He has a bankable skillset for sure and is likely top 5 in this class overall at creating his own offense. He just stinks at most everything else, but off the top of my head I still think I have him as a late teens/early 20's dude.

I wonder if his knee is getting red flagged.

He had offseason surgery... someone confirmed or said it. Not sure how serious it was... not sure if that is common knowledge.

What if it's Bilal vs Ausar?

Feel like the safe route at that point is Wallace or Bufkin.
I'd take Ausar. I understand the thinking and why people think they are closer than their draft stock appears.

I'm also the captain of team "why not trade back with OKC and get our 2024 pick back and take Wallace/Bufkin or swing on Bilal there" its a weird team and the t-shirts are not selling well.

Here we go… combining mine and HH’s ideas into one:

UTA out: 9/16/28, Kelly Olynyk
UTA in: 7/15, John Collins

IND out: 7/26
IND in: 9/16

ATL out: 15, John Collins
ATL in: 28, Kelly Olynyk

I have a hard time seeing Atlanta agree to that. Collins' value can't be that low, can it?

that's me with NSJ - i feel like he's freaking long (wasn't measured) like 6'5" in shoes and 6'11-7' span and while his shots didn't fall at Ark, he was behind the 8 ball due to injury and is one of the best guys in the entire draft and getting his shot. i see both him and keyonte george as guys who we didn't the real player due to injuries.

I'm assuming you mean trade back if Ausar is there at #9? I do think there's a consensus top 9....and while I'm a huge Bilal fan I understand if you just take Walker/Hendricks if they are there.
