2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I could picture the Jazz finding a way to trade up to #6 for Amen Thompson and #12 for Bilal or Bufkin. OKC would move up to #10 for Lively. Dallas would trade back or trade out.

i'd pick dwh as early as 19, i think. 26 would be a no-brainer. i'd be all over that.
It will be close. I think from Brooklyn on he will be in the conversation. Teams weirdly overreact to injury stuff on draft night imo. I get that its a serious injury but if dude had been healthy last year he's like a top 10 pick. At a position where everyone wants depth. Even if he redshirts this year I'm in.

Should we do one more mock draft before the actual draft?

My recommendation would be to have posters sign up for teams, so that trades make sense, but I would participate even if we just did it the way we have been.
I'd do it.

I'm game.

The Jazz's draft slot at #9 is appealing as a trade-back scenario for teams who don't believe in the Thompsons and have Hendricks and Dick as comparable prospects. At #9, Dick plus either a Thompson or Hendricks will be there.

Rumor has it that the shooting in the workouts hasn't been great for both the twins. They're going to drop, a little or a lot who knows.

However, sometimes you make a bad pick if you believe that they would retain their market value for a couple of years and you can flip them later. Take Amen if he slips and flip him after a year if you feel he is not a long-term fit. Some teams would be still infatuated with his potential.

Here we go… combining mine and HH’s ideas into one:

UTA out: 9/16/28, Kelly Olynyk
UTA in: 7/15, John Collins

IND out: 7/26
IND in: 9/16

ATL out: 15, John Collins
ATL in: 28, Kelly Olynyk
Wait.. where did 26 go? I approve btw. If you got Collins you aren't looking at Hendricks too hard anymore... so go get Black or Ausar or Cam or whatever. Now you got 15 for Miller/Bilal... if we got 26 then its Whitehead for me.

Just watched Leif on Locked on Jazz.. he did mention the twins shooting in workouts were so bad they stopped and moved onto other drills..

Wasn’t sure I heard it right,, but man that sounded ugly.

I feel like there's a major blindspot going on with the evaluation of JHS. Do people realize that he can't get to the basket or finish when he gets there? Andy Larsen said he reminds him of a bigger Jalen Brunson today. JHS is Shai, DWill, now a bigger Brunson. I think people just assume that because he has positional size he's a good athlete who can put pressure on the rim. It's either that or they have no idea what makes those NBA players good.

Yep it does sound consistently bad. They overwhelmed their competition but if they lose GM's in a shooting drill which is not super hard then they are really flawed.

Wonder if closer to the draft teams would get cold feet with the twins shooting?

With the info about Black potentially rising to #4 too.

Could see Amen and Austar dropping to us.

Not sure how I would feel about picking them up.

Look on the tape I saw he gets no separation. He gets his shot off still because he's a big guard. I'd guess the guys guarding him in the NBA will bother some of that. With an open court (the old nba space is the cure-all) maybe he can get some more paint finishes.

I think most people consider him polarizing. I don't think hes so terrible he can't figure some stuff out... but at 16 I would find better bets. At 9... give me a damn break. i think people get it... I would be elated if someone took him between 10-15.
