OK, so I'm a little embarrassed about this, but at the risk of seeming obsessed, I looked a little deeper in to the Cason Wallace injury stuff. Mostly, I'm having a hard time understanding how he's seemingly falling in the draft, so wanting to understand a little bit better. I looked through old reports and compared to game logs and some game film. Here is what I found:
- The first injury report was on 1/10 in the game against South Carolina he only played 8 minutes and sat out the second half with back spasms. According to the report this is something he's dealt with for awhile and wears a back brace when on the bench. He played 40 minutes two games before and had a bad game just before, and so my guess is he was affected by his back starting after 12/31.
- He seemingly played through some pain for a couple of games, and didn't play well, but then he looked like himself again for a couple of games and then sprained his ankle on 1/24.
- He played through the sprained ankle and looked bad for a couple of games and then started looking like himself until he reinjured the ankle on 3/1 and had to sit out for a game and then came back for the SEC and NCAA tournament.
- There isn't a lot out there from the draft analysis world on his injury. Only thing I remember hearing was Barlowe talking about Cason's family member saying the back spasms weren't an issue. I'm not seeing any reports from any teams with a red flag after any workouts. I am kind of curious if his canceling a workout earlier had to do with his back acting up, which if that's true, could be a big red flag.
