2023 Trade Rumors and Gossip Involving the Jazz

Would it have been more preferable to get Rozier instead of Collins?
I say its a definite maybe. I think there would be some similar issues. I think Collins is easier to play with most of our guys though... Rozier would be hard to mix with Sexton/George/JC?.

When Dame gets moved to Miami... which is absolutely going to happen... does Herro go to a third team or does Portland take him and move Simons? Not super interested in Herro atm but just curious where those guys land cuz I doubt Portland keeps Simons in either scenario tbh.

My position if I'm the Jazz is that we have no need for John Collins. He's owed 25 per year over the next 3 years unless he decides to decline his option in the final year, which at this point seems unlikely.

We just drafted his doppelganger in the NBA draft at 9. Why would we want to create a potential barrier to minutes for Hendricks?

We have no desire to move Kelly Olynyk. We love him and he's a great culture guy and a better player for our team than John Collins.

So in light of all this you have to blow us away for taking him on in a straight dump. If you want KO, that will cost even more.

We will consider adding Sexton if you meet our pick demands.
At this point you have to suspect that the Jazz front office doesn’t like you… right? :)

Murray would have been the ideal get from Atlanta even if we threw in the Laker pick and had to keep Gay.
Eh, I think there is something broken about Murray. If he is what we think he is, why would Pops have shipped him? He didn't exactly light things on fire in Atlanta either.

Lol I'm still getting a feel for the Danny/JZ stuff. I trust them to be smarter than me.
Ainge’s Law is: “Does this increase the value I have?”

Are 5 first round picks more valuable than Gobert? Yes.
Is Collins more valuable than a second round pick? Yes.
Is Collins more valuable than two first round picks? No - that’s why he didn’t do it at the trade deadline.

Ainge plays the meta game.

The Dame stuff is kind of annoying… I don’t know why the blazers don’t just tell him they will move him? The reports are he will give them a shot in FA first… so they sign Grant to like 5/150 and then Dame says I’m out? You just can’t plan that way.

Word is we tried to be included in the Boston/Washington trade to get Smart.
I’m still watching FVV. If his best offer is 30M a year from Houston I get that it might be a better “market” but our org is like 1000x a better fit. Getting him just for cap space or working a sign and trade with Toronto would be my best “win now” type option.

I’m not sure if the Collins move is a win now move or a flier on a guy in his 20s or just realizing we can’t use all our space in a good way type of thing. The salary dumps don’t seem to be too frothy.

I’m also curious to see which players get ridiculous contracts that are way too high for their production. It happens every year.

Granted, there’s less money to go around this year. . . but somebody is going to overspend on some of these free agents on long-term contracts and the end result is going to be brutal for them.

Off the top of my head. . . Draymond Green, Fred VanVleet and Kyle Kuzma all get overpaid this year. Going to be very interesting to see what the actual numbers look like in free agency.

Not too long ago Michael Jordan was only player making 30 mil a year
Now every team has one or two or more making 30 mil
This is crazy
Hope Jazz don't think FVV is worth 30 mil a year
