2023 NBA Free Agency Thread

All guaranteed with no options I assume? Yeah I would be at that price... that is basically right at the tipping point for me so if someone is still in that is fine. Its less about the actual money and space and more about the tradeability (Bolerisms coming out) of the contract.

3/75M with a team option last year or let’s say 10M guaranteed?

Chill bro. You are a close #2. I have a stranglehold on being Sexton’s #1 fan as much as HH does as Ochai’s #1 hater.
I am Sexton’s #1 fan on here. I have thought they’re higher on him than letting on. That could be proven wrong if he’s traded or they sign someone like FVV of course.

Whoah bro. I invented being Sextons number 1 fan
I'm a Sexton regional VP at least though. I'll happily report up through either of you.

He could’ve played the “5” and it doesn’t change that he had a >.30 usage rate, was second in assist% or his non-NCAA experience. He could be a “5” and still be lead ball handler.
Wait are you trying to say that even a 7-footer could be the primary play maker for his team and lead them to a championship?

lololol this guy

Sounds like Dillon Brooks to Houston is a done deal and they will heavily pursue FVV if they can't get Harden
Fisher said may be a 2/80M deal on FVV… and I wouldn’t love that for us but you at least aren’t on the hook for a couple more years… FVV is Mr betonyoself but I’d think locking in 4/120 would be appealing.

I get what Houston is trying to do because they owe picks out… but shortcutting is still kind of weird. Their roster is just a complete cluster F.

Damn, I’d be tempted to give FVV that with the idea of handing over the keys to Keyonte in two years

Might be able to do something like 3/107 with a low guarantee number on the final year... like $5M-6M so you can pivot if you want. Works out to like 2 for 80M but with cap hits of 35M, 37M, 5M (unless you keep him then its 35M).

One terrible way to use picks but might represent a risk to reward benefit is signing a potentially high risk/high reward deal like this and if you need to move bad salary later you use a pick.

no desire to add fvv - we don't want another tiny PG, especially an inefficient chucker.
So I just wonder a bit on him... he's never had much space or shooting... the tiny part doesn't bother me a ton because dude is a great defender so I don't think he gets picked on... it definitely affects the type of shots he gets. I just wonder if he can get back to a little less volume and average efficiency if you end up having a guy that improves the defense and can set everyone up. Dude is just an mfer and if the cost isn't prohibitive I'd love to have that in the org.

Not sure what you’re actually saying. I’m saying the nominal position you play at doesn’t matter. If you’re a 7-footer that moves well, is a threat off the dribble, and has all the other requisite “PG” skills then sure.

Whether Keyonte nominally played the 3, 1, or 5 in the NCAA doesn’t matter. All the other quantitative and qualitative aspects say he’s a lead ball handler.

Im also off the FVV bandwagon albeit I was never more than a passanger there.

He is just not big enough of an upgrade to warrant spending our remaining cap flexibility on him.

Im not mad if we get him, but I hope we think bigger from now on. I think we got great quality across the board but the sharpest end isnt sharp enough yet.

I'm being sarcastic. It's a very obvious duh that the "position" isn't a firm and permanent assignment nor role on a team as exemplified by Nikola Jokic and his historic run this year, using said example to bolster your position in this discussion.

This obvious joke explanation brought to you by LG98 Industries

Any playmaking PGs available? The team is seriously lacking in that department. I like Sexton as a 6th man, but not as a starting PG with limited playmakers in every other position.

Funny to me we now have to specify "playmaking" PG.

THT if he opts in for Monte Morris would make Cy's head explode but I probably do it.

Its something I'd consider and I think is fair. I am also cool if they think Dunn is this guy I guess. Monte is just so damn efficient... shooting and with his passing/playmaking.

We just need a setup man to help with Lauri/Collins/Kessler. Sexton can do a little bit of this because he can penetrate... but his reads are not what we would call advanced. it may still work though.

I think we are obsessing about this, or maybe I am, because its the current "wart" on the roster. I do think if Ochai does not show some improvement in this area this year then we need to consider him a part of the rotation but not a starter level player.

Not gonna lie... the muscle watch pics of THT got me a little excited. I think this is kind of his make or break season. If he still can't shoot and still has too many turnovers then I think its time to admit he is not brimming with potential and is more of a bench guy with some juice (sometimes the juice is sour... sometimes sweet).
