What's new

Darius Garland

BTW I love Garland. Better passer than Don. Would be over the moon if we got him. If he can stop getting weird *** injuries that would be great. I think they were kinda dumb to go for Don with him on the roster... if it rocked the boat enough to get him to ask out that is some 3d Chess by DA.

I think you may be able to build a contender better around Garland than you can around Donovan. Even if Garland isn't as dynamic as a scorer.

They have 4 really good players, but have pairings that don't have a great fit. I ultimately think they trade Mitchell to BKN.

Brooklyn, NY, or Miami maybe. Nets for Harris, DFS and picks. NY Barrett, Quickley, picks. Miami Herro + picks.

I think Brooklyn and Miami make the most sense and I think Brooklyn's package is a lot better. Those Suns picks could be really juicy... they also have some Philly picks. I'm sure Nets would try and have the Cavs eat Simmons deal but that would be a no go unless they add more stuff.

Speaking of dumb PG ideas, what about Ben S**********.

Kidding, or am I?

He has 2 years $78M left on his deal.
You’re absolutely right, I didn’t look closely enough. That does make him more interesting to me. One year to try him out and if it doesn’t work out he’s a big expiring the year after. Still too much money though, but he’s the ultimate reclamation project that could benefit from a fresh start in a small market. Shame he probably doesn’t have the mindset for it. He’s got the size, playmaking and defense we’re after.
Also a shame he’s a bit of a douchebag.

If they are trading Garland they are trading him for win now pieces. Why are the Jazz giving up their win now pieces for a 6'1 guard?

A thread is a thread, but there is no deal here.
We can give picks to TOR, Garland to UTA, OG to CLE ?

The asking price for OG has been insane. Why are we giving up that many picks for a 6'1 guard? I'd rather get OG tbh.
I think OG is massively overrated. I'd definitely rather have Garland than OG. Somehow Masaj has managed to convince the public their whole team is freaking beasts worth 8 1st round picks each while their team can't even make the play offs in the East.

Tbh - I’d rather have Donovan Mitchell than Darius Garland.
Same...in a vacuum at least. We already know Don apparently might have other issues with Utah though. We've also seen evidence that a smaller scoring guard such as Jamal Murray can win a ring in this league as a 2nd/3rd banana type if you have the right Alpha on the team.

How often has a small PG such as Garland played a key role in winning a championship? Steve Kerr couldn't do it. CP3 couldn't do it. Stockton couldn't do it. Detroit's Isaiah Thomas did it in 1989 but was surrounded by the bad boys. Kyrie did it next to a potential GOAT Lebron. The league is even bigger and more wing oriented these days.

Amico is a hack but it wouldn't surprise me if the Cavs did quietly put Garland on the block if they feel Don is going to stay with them long term. Alot of us had our doubts about the long term viability of that small Cavs backcourt as soon as the trade went down.

Only way they send him our way, imo, is if they get Hendricks who we are unlikely to part with, but he is the fit they need more than we do.
I don't see them doing business with Ainge again after he owned them in the last deal.
Hard to tell what the point is though, Garland looked pretty bad in the playoffs.
