I think the verbal agreement is binding. I think they’d be in trouble unless he got arrested or failed a physical…

I do imagine him putting pen to paper then immediately turning to the GM and saying… I’d like to formally request a trade to a contender… thank you.
I don’t know. I can think of a few players who have backed out of verbal agreements (Deandre Jordan, Marcus Morris). If they’re not binding for the players I don’t see how they would be for the team.

If Grant lost money cuz the spots closed up… I think he’d have a case.

Yeah, to be clear I don’t think there is any chance they’ll actually back out. Just a mental exercise of wondering if they could. I’m guessing they made that contract offer already knowing Dame was likely asking for a trade.

Anyone forgetting the DeAndre Jordan hostage situation?

I think the players would have less recourse if they change their mind than a team would by pulling an accepted offer.

Dame has specifically asked Heat and I think Portland will just comply.

Dame thinks he can win there, but Heat have lost Strus, Oladipo and Vincent already and the package for Dame will take 2 or more good players out the door while leaving Heat with barely any tradable assets.

Not gonna end well.
