Depends on the cost...

Thybulle or Beasley for $12 million / year? Pass.

Thybulle and Beasley for $3 million / year? Do it!
How about ~ $7 million? (which is the biggest exception the Jazz will have after finalizing the John Collins and Jordan Clarkson deals.)

Oubre, Thybulle (who is a RFA and Portland might just match) or Wood all seem like decent bets over keeping Vernon Carey, Jr. on the final roster.

So, is the Collins-trade official yet? I am hearing some talk about us being involved in a 3 way deal with Atlanta and Toronto. The talk is that Siakam would go to Atlanta and that Collins will be used as salary filler going to us.

Pretty sure Atlanta doesn't have the assets to pull that deal.

Dejounte Murray and a pick or two? Re-route Gay to Toronto. Pascal is on a one year deal right now... can't imagine he has crazy value.

Luka Samanic and Vernon Carey, Jr. shouldn’t make the final roster. They should both be cut or traded before their guarantees come due.

Jazz should use their $9.6 million trade exception by 7/6 to acquire Daniel Theis from Indiana. He’d be a great option for the 3rd center behind Kessler and KO. He’s also a solid locker room guy and is familiar to both Ainge and Hardy.

They should also offer Kelly Oubrey the room exception of $7.7 million for three years (last year a team option), and see if DA can work some magic to add one more talented wing player before he’s gone.

Clarkson - THT - Dunn - George
Agbaji - Sexton - (THT)
Markkanen - Oubre - Sensabaugh
Collins - Hendricks - Fontecchio
Kessler - Olynyk - Theis

Oubre would be a great addition. He plays pretty good defense at multiple positions. I'm not sure he is willing to come here and/or probably prefers a starting spot, but he doesn't have many options now. He's not a great 3 point shooter but he's okay and you expect him to be a little more efficient with lower usage. We could use another athletic wing who can defend and still spaces the floor.

If Beasley is going for $2.7 million then we need to drop the 13 - 15th roster perma bench guys in favor of signing a player or two from the remaining vets. If for no other reason than to be the adults in the room.
Adults in the room? Have you ever read anything posted on this forum, like, ever?

I’d offer him the room exception - either 2 years with a player option for the 2nd or 3 years with a team option for the 3rd. I mean, if he says no. . . it’s not like the Jazz have anything better they could offer him. I think he’d be a great mercenary off the bench.

If they could wrap that up, I’d cut Luka Samanic and move Fontecchio over to more of a 4.

Markkanen - Oubrey - Sensabaugh
Collins - Hendricks - Fontecchio

To me, that’s a pretty solid group of forwards to start with - plus you’ve still got KO who could play some 4 in a pinch if necessary.

Not how it works I think. I’m sure he tried to get a lot more and when he couldn’t he went to a contender for peanuts to rebuild his rep. Don’t think he’d accept that deal with Utah.
