Emoni Bates may drive Donovan out of Cleveland if he gets any substantial playing time lol.
They thought he was a #1 option in a championship team and the missing piece. Only problem is that there has only been 1 guard in the past 12 years who led his team to the title as the best player in the team and thats Steph. Why did Cleveland even make this deal? If they can’t build around him because he’s going to bail and they aren’t currently contenders, why did they trade for him?
They’re dumber than Minny then and I agree that they may have ****ed up worse than the Gobert trade. That team wasn’t close to contention. I think their backcourt is okay. But everything else sucks. Their bigs were worthless, not even close to what Gobert, Favors, or even Whiteside could produce. Prime Lebron might put that team into contention. But Spida ain’t prime Lebron. He’s very good though. I think people are going overboard in bashing him. He’s a top scorer in the league. He’s poor man’s AI. But he needs other players. They thought he was a #1 option in a championship team and the missing piece. The complete list of short guards to ever win the title as #1 option is very short. In fact the entire list of 6'1" or shorter finals MVPs in NBA history is this:
Isiah Thomas
So following that logic they still need the #1 option, or at least a very dominant frontcourt player.
They overvalued Allen and expected Mobley to take a huge leap offensively. Now Mobley wasnt bad last year but he didnt really take that leap either. Allen was pretty trash though. They’re dumber than Minny then and I agree that they may have ****ed up worse than the Gobert trade. That team wasn’t close to contention. I do believe that will end up being the case. Even if Minnesota trades KAT thry should still be pretty competitive. Maybe better as ANT would be the sole face of the franchise.Oh but we still do get to deal with it... kinda... in that they make short term signings that may look rough to be all-in... and when he still doesn't extend and they take .50 on the dollar we get to benefit.
Depending on how this plays out and how Edwards develops with Minny.... the Cleveland picks could very well be more juicy than the Minny picks.
There bigs are very good. Mobley is going to be a monster and Allen is really good as well. It is crazy that so many people seem to want to write them off as nothing when they really aren't far away from being a legit contender. If Mobley takes the jump that I expect this year then they will firmly be in the conversation to come out of the east. They’re dumber than Minny then and I agree that they may have ****ed up worse than the Gobert trade. I'm not convinced Mobley is going to be a "monster". I think he could cap out at just being a very good starter. I dont think he is overrated, but I think his potential got overstated. There bigs are very good. Mobley is going to be a monster and Allen is really good as well. Allen good? Cavs fans seem to want him out pretty bad, and based on what I saw last year he just feels too soft to be a really solid center. There bigs are very good. It doesn't help that he's playing with two guards who, between them, average over 50 FGA per 100 possessions.I'm not convinced Mobley is going to be a "monster". I think he could cap out at just being a very good starter. I dont think he is overrated, but I think his potential got overstated.
The guards arent really the issue. It's the fact he can't shoot and he plays next to a big who also cant shoot. It doesn't help that he's playing with two guards who, between them, average over 50 FGA per 100 possessions.
Allen is definitely good and I'm not sure where you are getting that cavs fans want him gone. Also one mediocre playoff series doesn't mean much of anything.Allen good? Cavs fans seem to want him out pretty bad, and based on what I saw last year he just feels too soft to be a really solid center.
Also his playoff numbers were horrid vs Knicks. Didnt even reach 10/8. Game 4&5 vs Knicks he got a total of 18 points and 8 boards (in 76 minutes) while Mitchell Robinson produced 25 points and 29 boards for the Knicks in those same games.
I think he looks like a good player, but I don't see him as much of a difference-maker. I feel he is pretty overrated.Allen is definitely good and I'm not sure where you are getting that cavs fans want him gone. Also one mediocre playoff series doesn't mean much of anything.
Most guys that are solid bigs aren't a difference maker in the sense that they won't have a star player impact. He just needs to continue being the player he has been for the last 3 years while they really need Mobley to be the guy that steps up and becomes the difference maker. At some point they may decide though that they need to break up the Allen Mobley pairing at which point I'm sure there will be plenty of teams that want Allen.I think he looks like a good player, but I don't see him as much of a difference-maker. Yeah, for sure he's a very useful player, even with how the league changes. Can't shake the feeling that a team built around two very similar small guards and two fairly similar bigs will have problems, though. Most guys that are solid bigs aren't a difference maker in the sense that they won't have a star player impact. I think the biggest issue for them is figuring out something at sf to bridge the weaknesses for the bigs and guards. I was pretty high on Okoro going into last year as being that type of sf but he was terrible to start the year and even though he picked it up a little as the year went on he was non existent plenty of games and still not particularly good when he put up numbers. With Strus and Niang they are at least giving themselves more options at the 3 spot and both guys are a big upgrade shooting the ball.Yeah, for sure he's a very useful player, even with how the league changes. Don't fool yourself, the Gorbert trade will go down as the worst trade in history. They’re dumber than Minny then and I agree that they may have ****ed up worse than the Gobert trade. Whose Gorbert?Don't fool yourself, the Gorbert trade will go down as the worst trade in history.
Lol Turdbert whatever he is a scrub... Ainge thought he sucked and was overpaid and traded his overrated azz. And thank goodness he did. Kessler already brings more to our team than he did.Whose Gorbert?
Seriously, it doesn't make the top 5 (the trades of rookies/picks don't really count).
