wouldn't post this mid season, but things are slow. we had him and liked him for a while, but it seems that he is now having mental health issues. the manner of his departure makes a bit more sense now, and i hope he gets it figured out.

I love Ricky Rubio the person. It sucks that he’s struggling and I hope that he can figure his mental health issues out and find peace and happiness in his life.

I’m actually really encouraged that so many well known individuals have sought help with issues like this. A lot of kids I deal with have struggled with mental health issues and I’m seeing more and more getting real help with their issues than I used to.

Both of my kids have recently had good friends of theirs seek treatment to help with anxiety and depression. Some of the stigma of treating mental health definitely seems to have been reduced.

That’s because he was a child when he started playing pro basketball. Sometimes I forget how young these guys are when they’re out there playing against grown men. Going to need to remember that with Keyonte, Taylor and Brice.

He has been around forever. He started playing in the Spanish ACB league when he was 14 and played his first Euroleague game at 16. When most of us were in 8th grade he was playing against grown men in Spains best league. That is crazy.

That's why Euros often come over more NBA ready. Especially in terms of defense, despite the stereotypes.

he always had a tough time talking about the death of his mother after she passed from lung cancer in 2020. It always struck me.

I hope he's doing okay.

I doubt Ricky is done with basketball. May not play in the NBA again. Coming off of rehab and not playing a ton last year I am sure he's feeling a bit low. I wouldn't be shocked if he went and played in Euro League a couple years. Hope he is doing well... seems like a really good dude.
