Herro Rumors

How good is Jamal Murray if Jamal Murray did not go bonkers in the playoffs? I think that is both an optomistic+realistic path for the rest of Herro's career. Problem is that playoff Jamal isn't close to RS Jamal and I'm still baffled at how amazing he's been.

Not sure but pre-injury he was putting together a really good RS. I would expect this year RS Jamal Murray is closer to playoff Murray.

The longer this Heat Dame saga goes the more it starts to sound and look like the Knicks Don saga from last summer. Cronin trying to pull an Ainge? Lots of Heat leverage talk and how they shouldn't give up much and how they should be happy with whatever they do offer.

If a deal goes through and we land Herro for a song I'd be pleased... but also if Riley ****ed around and found out and Heat fans had to eat it... that feels pretty fun too.

Good news is if the trade does go through then im happy becase i have been talked into liking herro. Trade doesnt go through and we keep one of my favorite players around. Win win

I have no idea on the reasoning at all... and it’s likely coincidence. This **** makes batty.

It does sound like Toronto might be making a push. Interesting.
Chris Haynes said today that its Portland who refuses to talk with Miami. Woj didnt elaborate why they arent talking to Heat so both things could be true.

So here is my theory to make sense out of this. What if its Miami who is calling about rerouting Herro and Nurkic?

So Portland is trying to put the heat on Riley (pun intended) by talking to others, and isnt talking to Riley before he comes up with an improved offer that has these aspects fully figured out.

That makes sense... sort of?

Portland/Miami got no reason to communicate tbh. Riley isnt moving from the offer.

Blazers got to try and find something better or they got to find other teams to bring in that can give them more value for Herro.

None of that really requires Miami to be involved unless it's very close to getting done

Why does Portland have to find a suitor for Herro and not Miami?

Jamal is a much better shot creator and playmaker than Herro in my opinion. I view Herro as more of a poor man's Ray Allen type.

Because they are (at least posturing) to not be desperate for this. If they want to maintain that position it's better for them to not be the ones doing the heavy lifting of negotiating.

Miami just made the Finals without Herro. They can easily maintain a position of "Hey we are good. We have a championship roster and we are getting Herro back for the 5th year while maintain flexibility to purse Giannis/Embiid when they demand a trade"

They were also a play in team that lost two depth pieces and Jimmy’s shelf life is running out. They should be super aggressive in finding offers unless they don’t think Jimmy/Dame/Bam can win a title.

The whole tough guy “find a better offer!” Has not worked out well recently. I think it’s very likely he ends up in Miami but… they should close the door on the deal before someone gets a notion.

I think that makes sense. A lot of times in negotiations you want the other party to say a number/offer first. Cronin knows what they have and what might be available… so if he hunts around and does find something solid… he can go in hot with a strong ask.

Only way it’s a loss is if we overpay.

I think adding back Herro and bringing in Jacquez is an upgrade over Vincent and Strus.

It has worked out very well for Miami. They are going to be the top "trade me there" market for any star. They can easily play this hand and win.

They had Herro most of last year with Vincent and Strus… and were a play in team. Herro also knows they been willing to trade him for Dame. Jacquez should have a smaller learning curve but is still a rookie. They are great a finding role players… so likely figure it out… but Lowry is barely limping along and Jimmy won’t be this good forever. Dame has been gift wrapped to them. They should push hard to close the deal.

They’ve been that… after Lebron they have landed Jimmy who was a free agent and Lowry who was a free agent. KD multiple times, Gordon, have been some recent misses. They may not have the ammo for a star bigger than Dame and waiting a year or two likely means Jimmy is on the heavy decline. They should have some urgency here.

Oh yeah. Miami must be just totally lathered-up in their own egos right now. Just creating new smells every few hours.

Riley is probably handing out tiny bottles of his own self-confidence to the team, distilled down to a liquid concentrate. A little dab here, a little there, and you too can smell like a regular at the local human trafficking hub.

Philly should also have some urgency too… Toronto not sure what the plan is but they could end up losing pascal or og next summer… so may want to be a bit more active here.
