The Cavs pick is unprotected in the elite draft, correct? That should count for something and it's coming sooner than those picks they can get from the Clips. The 2nd most valuable from that 4 pick group is still potentially a lottery pick.

If they can actually get Mann, that might swing it, but I still have doubts the Clippers make that huge of a move given how bad of luck they have had with health.
They make big moves... I also don't want to give up any lotto tickets for the 2025 draft... it would count for something though and maybe better to sell that idea than try to manifest it.

Holiday in a heartbeat! Holiday is exactly what we need right now to a) make us an immediate contender , b) shore up our porous perimeter D, and c) to mentor George for the next two seasons. Two years is a perfect window of apprenticeship for Keen George to assume his throne IMO!

Big props to the Saint for getting out ahead of the curve on this one.
You are delusional if you think Holiday makes us an immediate contender. He is a solid player but you can pretty much guarantee he is a worse player this year than last year.

You sound stupid acting like adding Jrue makes us anything more than a borderline playoff team.
Brother we were a bonafide playoff team with Mike Conley, Malik Beasley, and Jared Vanderbilt while starting a rookie and having our best player in a brand new role for the first time in his career.

Lauri is going into his 2nd year as the man, Walker a year older, we got John Collins. Jrue Holiday makes us better than a borderline playoff team. We become a team that can realistically make the 2nd round and accelerate the timeline of our guys developing.

Again, dumbass talk likes this takes me back to "cake baking" the Core 4 and how horrendously boring and uneventful that turned out to be.

You can talk to these dudes and take their temperature.

The Jazz might not be contenders this upcoming season, but they should be by the following year or the one after that, all of which Jrue should still be relevant. Try to elevate the years were Lauri and Walker are still cheap.

Go look at any contender, there are often large age gaps on the roster. Usually among starting rotations 2-3 will be around the same age +/- 3 years, you will have 1 guy who is 25 or younger, and 1-2 very veteran players. That's how you build a championship roster, with a max of age groups.
We basically have a roster of unproven players right now. It is beyond stupid to go win now with a 33 year old at this point. Even Lauri is still somewhat unproven with only one really good season.

Ahh, can only start competing when Lauri has made 3 all-star games and is getting paid 60 million per year.

And again, there was incredible value by adding Mike Conley to this team, accelerating the "timeline", figuring out it wasnt working, and bailing out before everyone's value plummeted because we waited till our best player's contract year to be our best team.

There is value in making the playoffs and figuring out what works at the playoff level.

So are you both advocating we give up two picks and a combination of THT/KO/ or CS to get Jrue?

I think a contender can do that to push them over the edge while convincing themselves that Jrue will stay in a good situation… I just don’t think the Jazz are there yet (aka timeline).
If you get Jrue, adding him to Lauri, Kessler and a slew of talented young Sexton and JC, isn’t the future now? Doesn’t that mean we are trying to win now?

Thinking back to the Core 4 further, it's crazy how massive of a failure that whole process would have been if it wasnt for Rudy Gobert emerging out of nowhere as a 27th pick.

If winning now doesn't impact winning later, then why would you wait to start winning more?

If we had full control of our own pick I'd be a little less open (not much) but we want the pick to convey.

I forgot how good of a playmaker Jrue is. Again... if the contract stuff is workable as far as an extension... I would put in a competitive offer.

Okay I’m delusional but I’d still much rather have a veteran with All Star and All Defensive accolades that has the ring to prove that he’s been to the top of the Mountain than another no-defense gunner.

Wouldn't the price for Holiday likely start with Taylor Hendricks?

I hate that you said that... cuz I thought it but didn't want to discuss it. I would prefer picks to young players since the young players have a better chance of helping us on court in a year or two. I would not put Taylor in the deal... they will surely ask though.
