Now that training camp is nearly upon us and it seems like no last minute trades will happen, it's time for *official* predictions.

THT better assist rate. Sexton cannot start, isn't really a PG
Seemingly every report is Jazz view him as a 6th man and Clarkson is basically guaranteed to start, so to me it seems a given it's not Sexton. 3 man competition imo

he can shoot better than Sexton can pass
What stats are you looking at to say THT passes any better than Sexton?

Because his shooting is .419 (fg) and .286 (3pt) vs. .506 (fg) and .393 (3pt).

And btw I voted for Clarkson being the starter. Think that one is sort of obvious.

I was actually wondering if Brogdon would be a good fit but I cant find a return timeline for his injured elbow. Even if the jazz did trade for him we would have to wait for him to get better. His cost would also be a question mark. I wouldnt give up a lot for him and Portland has been fleecing everyone lately.

I think he’s cleared to play but not 100% sure.

I just don’t know… lots of solid options at guard but fit is wonky. I think they will experiment with a couple things unless we get off to a hot start.

This poll refers to opening night of regular season (since I might have a different answer for opening night of preseason, the most during the year, or the regular starter by the end of the season)?

The closer we get to the season the more I have a feeling that it's going to be THT, at least to begin the season.

I’m starting to think that Keyonte will and should be the starting PG. He has the highest ceiling out of any PG on the roster.
I liked becouse of the "should". I dont know about the "will" though. Hardy often mentions "food chain" and "pecking order" and seems to give vets the benefit of the doubt if its a close call.

However I think its entirely possible that Keyonte just realizes the task at hand, establishes great chemistry with Lauri in the TC, and wins the job that way. He did throw a fair amount of lob passes in the SL and we got 3 guys in the frontcourt that feast on lobs, so at least he has that going for him.

Hardy said in his presser that he doesnt see anyone being the "PG" or even "the lead guard". He said very clearly that they want to run "pairs" in the backcourt of players who complement each other and work well together. So I'm answering the question with the assumption that JC starts and we are talking about who he pairs up with (regardless of who is 1 or 2).

Now its obvious you need a player next to JC who is first and foremost defensively capable, and can also facilitate some for others since JC cannot be the only tablesetter.

Out of the guards we have, Dunn is the best guard we have in both of those areas. However I'm not saying he should automatically win the job since he didn't play that much with Lauri or Kessler last season, as he lead the 2nd unit and player with Dok, Samanic and KO more. So remains to be seen what level of chemistry he has with the starting frontcourt.

Its a training camp competition for sure as Hardy has also said, so all projections now are more or less wild guesses of who will win the job in the TC.

Sexton was the starting point guard until he got hurt last year. I also think he is a significantly better player than Dunn or THT, and I think talent will win out, even though his fit with Clarkson could be awful.

It would be amazing if it was George, although I wonder if he is going to be too big of a liability on defense to play much this year.
