John Collins about playing with Lauri and Walker: "I'm really excited to play with those two guys. The spacing, our height, our versatility is exciting to me.". Had lots of praise for both of them and really believes our frontcourt can be special. I'm surprised he was excited about the spacing though, albeit he played with one of the worst spacing bigs in Capela.

Also when asked about what has surprised him here: "One thing that surprised me is the lack of ego. Its refreshing. To have a group of guys really emphasizing team basketball." Went on about it for a while.

Sounded like a guy really excited to make a fresh start, and also excited about the team.

Kris Dunn on our defense: "Och could be a really good defender. Taylor could be a really good defender. Keyonte. Collin I think he is a good defender."

Kinda surprised and excited he brought up Keyonte in that list.

If he says something like "not only is he the best pg I have played with... he has the best hairline of any pg I have played with" we will know he is really hoping Trae hears the quotes.
 
By the way, Collins made a comment about Hill Air Force base being just up the road from here and also a joke at the start of his interview about being out of breath because of the altitude. Maybe they did media day in Utah but early enough so they could then hop on the plane to Hawaii?

This is probably right, unless local media all really traveled to Hawaii.

Sure enough. I went back and watched the first interview. Made a comment about not trying to name everything because he'd be late to Hawaii.

Interesting. I think this might be the least excited I am for a season in awhile. I just don't love how our pieces fit together. I ended up passing on getting tickets to watch them in person this year. Mostly they come to town on a really bad night for me, but in other years that wouldn't have mattered.

Hopefully the rookies surprise and play big roles this season and make it exciting.
