I disagree that Brogdon is not a good fit with Don. He is much better at guarding bigger players than Conley and is also a really good passer/PnR operator. He was the primary on Kawhi in playoff series and held him to 13/39 shooting when matched up with him. It's easy to forget that he was a primary wing defender for those Bucks teams and he held up fairly well in the playoffs. He came at a significantly lower cost as well, both in salary and assets given.

But again, we already had the perfect backcourt partner with Don. His name was Joe Ingles. Part of my gripe with the Don trade was this idea that we had to get a PG to play with Conley. Chasing a PG was misguided. Even in the regular seasons when Conley was injured we played great without him, in large part due to the fact that Joe was perfect next to Don and we had plenty of other offensive focused players. What we were really dying for was a wing player and instead we spent the assets on a player who didn't fit next Donovan while attempting to fill a need that we didn't have in the first place. I don't want want to go back with complete hindsight and say the Conley deal was bad because we could have gotten this specific guy or whatever. It was just a mistake to invest so heavily in a PG and especially a PG that did not mix with Mitchell in the playoffs.
 
I'm not sure Mike trade was that good. We obviously short of one good PG and one good wing to become a contender. Not easy to get. But i'm happy for Mike he play for a good team with a real chance to win this year.

Because full tanking would require no Lauri. It was too risky when the Jazz already had a good position with assets

I was excited about him as a prospect. I said he would be a good pick for the Jazz at #23 that year. Then he ended up going at #23, but the pick went to OKC after the Conley trade and Memphis moving up a couple spots for Brandon Clarke. FWIW, I also liked Keldon Johnson for the Jazz in that draft. Bazley's main problem is that his shooting never developed. The defense was fine.

That was still the Ricky Rubio/Jae Crowder era of the Jazz.

Everyone likes Mike. Doesn't mean it was the best move or even a good move. I like Mike and hated the trade. He was not what we needed. But man I'd love to hang with the guy.

We could have found an ''injury'' to make sure Lauri did not play a lot of games..what tanking team do actually with their best players. Overall i do think DA make some good job specially trading Don and Rudy.... but last year semi tanking strategy was a mistake for me.

I think the plan was to tank but Lauri was just too good. He legit would have had to sit out like half the season. It just wasn’t feasible unless we traded him.

Man, you doing life wrong. Sometimes there are bigger things than championships. One of them is being the flyest guy in the league. That's what's up.

Eh, no you're just wrong.


About the championship part. He's totally fly. But watching a millionaire playing a child's game and looking good doing it does nothing for me. It's all about the ring baby.

Yes i agree with you. But where are we now? not good enough, not bad enough. We have to make some smart moves or i'm not sure Lauri will extend. A lot of people here were laughing about Minny and say they were on the disaster track..actually they are much closer than us to be really good.
 
Jordan Poole experience is gonna be wild in DC (first game was against non-NBA team)

Add Kuzma with his need for attention and tendency for tunnel vision and we can predict exactly what the Wizards are going to be.

Kuzma is a 45/34/72 career shooter with high usage.
Poole is a 42/34/88 career shooter with high usage.
No one else gets the ball unless those two are sipping Prime on the bench.

Probably all the fans who love self-creation and flashes are gonna rave about their big nights, while the team skids towards #1 lottery odds.

I think if we did whatever we did for the last 20 games for the entire year we might have had a shot at wemby.
