Game #10 : Lakers at Utah, Wednesday 01/11/2012 7:00 PM MST

Jazz didn't call time out at the end because they sucked the entire second half against The Lakers set D.

Corbin made the right call, it just didn't work out.

Agreed. It wouldn't have turned out any better. Al had a chance but a combination of being dead tired and facing Andrew Bynum is a losing proposition.

Just a monster game by Sap. He was everywhere, he did everything, he toyed with Gasol. And then he was huge in the OT. Too bad it was in a loss.

In the first quarter we had several PnR's from the wings that were beautiful. Hayward/Sap was one I can remember, and Al had a beauty with Howard which allowed Howard a 6 foot bank shot. But then we forgot to run them. What kills me is we should be running a ton of these when Kanter/Favors are in the game because neither of those guys can post.

Speaking of Kanters/Favors, I cry every time these two are paired together. With Sap feeling it, Al should have been sat earlier in the 1st so Sap could play alongside one of those two. Then Sap rests when Al comes in. Then Sap comes back. I have no idea why Ty doesn't stagger the minutes. Favors is absolutely horrific as a post option. And Kanter can't do anything other than rebound. So leaving them in there together is pointless.

I really have no idea why Ty thinks Bell is the only guy who can guard Kobe. Yeah, Bell crowds Kobe. But Kobe is undeniably the best stop and pop player in the league. He got to the rim like 4 times tonight. You can't stop the guy, but the best defender on Kobe is length. It should have been obvious that Hayward/CJ/Howard in whatever combo were better options than Bell.

Hilarious Kanter moment in the 2nd. Earl got beat by that Morris kid and Kanter was blocking out while Morris scored. But that's just where Kanter is at this point.

The ONE time... The ONE time, we needed Big Al to pump fake and go up, it was that last shot against Andrew "the camper in the paint" Bynum...

Hayward was an disaster tonight, but two plays really stand out. In the 3rd, he gets Barnes up in the air. A) he doesn't lean into him for the easy foul; B) he dribbles around him, has a clean 10 foot look, and passes it. He passed up 2 shots on one play.

Then there's the last play. He gets all the way to rim and forces the pass to Al rather than going up.

It's getting ridiculous. Just go up with the basketball.

It really needs emphasis: Favors is absolute murder in the post. It's at the point where I'm rolling my eyes the second he catches. The offense is done at that point. There were like 3 possessions in the early 2nd where I swear he didn't even look for another player. I love everything else about him, but we need to put off his post education until next year and tell him to just clean up the glass and run the court for his buckets.

He should have never got the ball. Hayward could have taken 10 different shots, not the least of which was a short pullup. In any case, there was no time on the clock and Al naturally thought he had to go up as fast as he could.

We played Raja 33 minutes tonight. I guess it was for the defense which held Kobe in check to (some portion of) 40 points, 8 boards, and 4 assists. On the flip side of that, we got 7 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists.

Just imagine if you knew ahead of time that your starting 2 would get 7 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists in 33 minutes. Exactly HOW great would his defense have to be before you cut those minutes to 32?

I HATE THE LAKERS! ok now I feel better. The Jazz gave this one away but it still bugs the heck out of me when the refs give the Lakers a couple more players. I would really like Locke to do one of his studies to figure out why Millsap gets no respect. He gets called for the most BS calls in the NBA bar none and in return gets hammered with no call. It sucks to watch.

Paul was huge, Al Jeff got owned, the youngin's need more time and Hayward needs to grow a pair. Hats off to Bell, his D tonight was the old Bell.

First I like Hayward but...

I think he is quickly becoming our new CJ. "Break out games", lots of potential, stupid mistakes that are attributed to being young, great shooter except it rarely shows up in games that are competitive, either too aggressive or too passive rarely in between. I hope Hayward overcomes his problems and finds consistency this season but I am starting to worry. I think every Jazz fan wants him to succeed and develop so bad.
