2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I don’t know what the price to trade up was, but man it sucks to be so close to getting Bilal. Went from “this guy is a lotto pick promise him 28 now” to “Bilal Coulibaly is the 7th pick of the NBA draft”.

I wonder if we tipped our hat a little too much regarding Bilal. It seems like it was the worst kept secret before the draft. Talking to Rafael Barlowe at SL he said he was hearing Bilal at 9 LOUDLY and thought it was a lock. Might have spooked Washington into moving up to 7.

Bitching about a draft where we possibly ended up with a top 3-5 player when our highest pick was 9th feels silly.
Not silly at all. Missing on the 9th pick is pretty huge regardless of hitting on the 16th pick. It's probably silly to be doing it this early, but being silly is fun.

There is also an alternate reality where we outtank the Blazers, pick Scoot and dont pick George because we took him.

In that alternate reality there is a 30 page thread titled "Scoot is a bust?" where we wallow in the memories of Kanter and Exum.

Btw Blazers Ripcity forum has that thread, but without the questionmark in the title or mentions of Kanter and Exum.

Ok, we are living in the real reality.

Eh….I doubt it had any impact. Of course IND would have called WAS about a trade up even if there were no reports. There’s just no way UTA was going to sneak a trade in without WAS getting to bud themselves. There’s also no way WAS snuck in a trade for so little value without UTA getting their shot.

It was a weird trade scenario where both teams were bluffing, but I think IND gets more from WAS if there was a true bidding war. Ultimately I don’t think the Jazz were willing to put much on the table.

Cy bitches, you and your contingent bitch about the bitching, and I come in to bitch about the bitching about the bitching.

We all know our roles.
I wasn't bitching though... I was putting a suggestion in the suggestion box.

Its just funny to give the FO a pass for not moving up because the prices was crazy and then lament the Hendricks pick with Bilal gets 10/8 in another Wizards blow out (this paragraph is bitching about bitching).

We missed on the 9th pick?

Not only that but Bilal wasnt there at 9, and he was higher than Hendricks on our big board.

BPA at 9 was probably Keyonte George.

I think 90% of the guys I see complaining about were picked ahead of Hendricks. Just weird to say we missed on the pick and the cost to move up was too high.

Its also the week before Thanksgiving and the kid didn't even get to play summer league and he's written off as a loss by some posters I guess. Sad.

Yeah we all agree its not looking great, but I'm not onboard of labeling him as bust.

Its also funny that had we picked George at #9 (was 10 on our big board) and Hendricks at #16 this conversation would be totally different.

I think the one guy besides Key that went after Hendricks is Cason. There is a chance if you take Cason at 9 that Keyonte isn't there at 16. Like I'd rather have Key and Taylor. No one was taking like Jaime Jaquez at #9 ya know.

Yeah, thought it was a bit odd he gave the FO a pass for that. Playing both sides.
