Trade ideas

Prolly their preference but I'm guessing adding Lavine in that deal would murder our space and potential re-negotiation and extend for Lauri. I think DA can talk them into White, Derozan, Williams, Collins, and stretch 5 extraordinaire Vucevic will make Collins effective out of the PnR. Cue the Tobias meme!

I think they will view Collins at 3/80 as easier to swallow than Zach at 4/180

I'm not sure they will, in fact, I'm pretty confident that they would not. Zach isn't a perfect player obviously, but I do think if he would hit the market in FA he could get a 3 year deal similar to the one he's on....or there would be many teams willing to give it to him if they could. I think there are zero NBA teams who would give Collins the deal he's on.

I hope Danny can somehow capitalize on the Warriors disaster with the $400M payroll and the window closing. Maybe Olynyk can help fill the Draymond void if he gets a lengthy suspension.
Are you willing to swallow an awful Wiggins contract? If not you kind of have to wait until Clarkson becomes tradable to combine him with KO to trade for CP3

I would disagree. If nothing changes from right now Zach wouldn't get a 3/$140M offer. Collins would not get 2/$52M either but its easier to swallow and the logistics of moving it are easier as its just smaller.

KO and Sexton for CP would work as well.

Also with regard to Draymond. He will get 6 games is my guess... they are discussing the availability for the Christmas game supposedly according to the internet. If that is the case the NBA still doesn't get it.

Any chance Draymond is trying to force his way to the Lakers? All the antics after get his contract.

Not like this nah. IF thats what he wanted I think he could go the GS and they would oblige if there was an okay trade on the table. They likely as sick of his **** as anyone.

Teams want Zach on that contract IMO. Like the Lakers don't have cap space, but they would give it to him in a heartbeat. The Jazz were the sucker last summer, but I do not believe there exists a team that would want Collins on his contract. Hell, I'm pretty sure the Jazz would be a team to take Lavine on his current contract.

No chance in hellllllllllllllll would the Warriors want Sexton
Prolly not. They would have to attach other salary to CP to do the JC/KO deal. Could do something like CP/GP2/Joseph for Sexton/Tech/KO

Saves them infinity dollars in tax this year. We get off of most of Sexton's money.

I don't think the Lakers would with how allergic they are to the tax and having Lebron and AD committed to the dollars they are. If it was a straight swap of Rui/Russell for Zach I think they would have interest... not sure what that does for the Bulls.

Put it this way... if Zach was a free agent I think he'd have a market similar but slightly worse than a guy like FVV. Fred got essentially a 2/82M with a non-guaranteed third year. He's easier to fit in most winning or rebuilding scenarios. Only takes one person to go over that but I think he'd be lucky to find a situation that would pay him 3/140.

I doubt someone would roll out a Bruce Brown type of offer for Collins but if there was a rebuilding team that wanted a locker room guy maybe. I think both guys take a paycut if they are FAs but any difference between their value is what the pick is for.

Zach has many suitors. He may not bring superstar value, but he is still very much neutral or positive. Collins is obviously a hard negative. The Jazz are a rebuilding team in need of a locker room guy and I think we can all agree it was a big mistake to take on his contract.

I dont get the Collins hate. He hustles a lot and moves more on the court than just about anyone on our team. He rebounds pretty well, plays decent defense when he isnt put at center, he shoots threes at a decent clip, and is an all around solid starter. He isnt going to be all-star so if that was your expectation I could see disappointment. He is a great fit with Lauri because he can space the floor and doesnt require the ball too much, along with defense and rebounding. Could we upgrade him? Sure. Should the rookie start over him? No, he can still get plenty of time off the bench and if he surpasses him, great go ahead and start him then and let Collins be a solid guy off the bench.
Completely agree. The fact that the FO did nothing to help with playmaking is not and should not be on Collins. He is a nice complementary piece and seems to be a decent locker room guy. Our current roster is very poorly constituted and that is because of Collins.

Shams:

Elsewhere in Chicago, as The Athletic reported in mid-November, the Bulls are expected to continue probing interested teams on a Zach LaVine trade. The Bulls have won four consecutive games for the first time since February 2022 and are now 9-14. All of the wins have come without LaVine, who will miss three to four more weeks to treat right foot inflammation, and interested teams are keeping an eye on LaVine’s health situation and his return to play.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers are expected suitors for LaVine, but both are operating from positions of patience and due diligence. And now, as the Bulls have found their stride over the past week and are just one game out of a Play-In Tournament spot, teams will continue to monitor their approach with LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, who will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. The Athletic’s Sam Amick recently reported that DeRozan’s preferred trade destinations are the New York Knicks and Miami Heat if he does end up being dealt.

Woj says no market for him. Shams says Lakers and 76ers are "expected suitors" but will be patient. Please don't make it sound like teams are knocking down the bulls doors here and that Zach has many suitors.

Rui+Dlo and a pick is better than Collins/THT and a pick but not sure the Lakers put that pick on the table.

Still more buzz than John Collins. You cannot name a team that would want Collins on his contract, it does not exist. We’re not comparing him to a player on a good contract, we’re talking about a player on a clearly negative contract. I see Beal as the reference point….Beal yielded 4 pick swaps and 4 seconds. Lavine might be less than that, but there’s still a big gap between that and Collins. I agree with the notion that CHI is in for a Beal like trade and not a superstar like trade….Collins would be a Favors type trade if we are lucky lol.

If you presented the questions of Lavine or Collins to fans outside of a Jazz forum, I think they would laugh at the question.

I would 100% take a shot on Wiggins. Whether it is Clarkson, Collins or KO and another salary piece I don't really care.

Yeah and that is what the 1st is for... the Beal pick swaps are some of the fakest of fake pick swaps. First its Washington to Phoenix. One is for this year. The 2026 swap relies on Washington being a bottom 8 team and Phoenix also being a bottom 8 team... because if Washington is outside of the top 8 their pick goes to NY. So they got a swap in 28 and 30 and 4 seconds... I would take a first from another team over that (they also threw Goodwin which would have netted a second somewhere too).

Yes I saw a trade where a Lakers fan says they wouldn't move Rui/Dlo and a first for Lauri... so fans are definitely the best ones to ask. These things require context and I'll bet just as many fans would choke at the 4/180M that LaVine is owed.

If John Collins is a free agent he is likely getting MLE or slightly more. so like 12-15M on the higher end. Rui is a solid comp there. Might cost a first to dump the negative money but it also might not. Graham and Bertans were both salary dumped for a pile of seconds and a swap respectively.

So while I think the Bulls would prefer shorter/smaller money like JC and KO I'm not sure they turn their nose at Collins as he might be the player that best fits what they want and the asset attached is better or more than they would get elsewhere.
