I remember reading about the conversations between Jazz and the Lakers like a week before the trade, then it "died", but I guess Connely revived the topic by throwing the Wolves into the convo.

But yeah it was thrown around a lot earlier by you guys.

For those here who miss Mike...Not sure why Jones name is not being thrown around in the trade rumor. If people like Conley they will like Jones. An incredible 3pt shooter who never turns the ball over. He doesn't fit the timeline with the rebuilding Wizards but he does fit seamlessly with Lauri. He's basically a one year rental for Wizards and a late first should be enough to get it done.

Because Utah doesnt want a guy like that when they care about developing Keyonte.
 
Has there been a single thing linking the Jazz to Dejounte outside of the fact Hardy coached him in San Antonio?

It seems like there would at least be some buzz around one of the rumor mongers saying "i checked with Utah and they aren't really interested". This group isn't exactly tight lipped. I trust Hardy here and Murray might be a handful to deal with. Cuz like... if you are interested in Jrue why wouldn't you be interested in Murray (I know that one guy is theoretical but still).

If the price is as low as it seems... it is really hard not to swoop in here... and maybe that is the plan.

Not down payment theory I promise... but trades are hard. And some front offices struggle to work together. The fact that we have done a deal with the Hawks means we've figured it out before... so I would think the inroads there are wide open. Yet - we've heard nothing. Leads me to believe we are likely just not that interested for some reason.

Otherwise I think a JC to NY, Grimes and Fournier to Atlanta with a pick from us, and Murray to Utah seems like super doable given what the Lakers are offering.

I haven't seen anything... and the days of DL fort knox are over I think.

I think the bigger issue is Jones/Sexton/Key is like tiny tiny. I like Jones in a vacuum but not with our current guards at all.

I don't think the front office is tight lipped even if the exact deals aren't known before hand. We've known they had interest in guys and the fact that there is zero smoke either means they have no interest or maybe that they are super interested and actively trying to keep in under lock and key.

Honestly... its kind of a fail for the rumor mongers not to at least connect dots between Murray and Utah and not check in with a "ainge isnt interested" or something like that.

It wasn’t really pushed out there that we had interest in Holiday until after the deal was done though right?

I honestly can't remember. I just think this group is a little more out there with the rumors than in the past. I would honestly think we were are the top of the list with teams like Nets, Knicks, Lakers, based on having assets and its a position of need. I mean we even had a check in with Lavine... it was something like "they are only interested if the price is really really low" type of thing.

Maybe his agent was like "yeah please don't even think about it". I think he definitely gets moved and if its on the cheap I would like some sort of explanation. Even if it is something like Ainge thinks he's overrated.
