What's new

Game #12 Jazz@Denver, Sunday 1/15 6:00 p.m.

Man, we are a deep team. But deep isn't talent. Deep is how every guy that comes on the floor fits right back into the machine. This team has so much chemistry.
I look forward to seeing them in a season or two, to see how far they've come. I don't expect much this season, and I am already being pleasantly surprised. I can only hope they continue to move forward, I don't want to see them stuck any time soon.

On the negative side, Ty has to start changing up the offense when Kanter/Favors are on the floor. I totally get his wanting those guys to run the same things that Al/Sap do. But they can't. We can't run a post offense with those dudes in the game. For now, we need to run much more PnR with those guys. Dropping the ball into Favors on the block is a total waste.

Here's one thing about Favors: I want to see him develop a post game like anybody. But it's not going to happen this year. He's too far away. On the plus side, Favors CAN develop a PnR game this year. And honestly, he looks like an Amare type player. I really doubt he'll ever score on the block like Al. So lets forget that. Lets make his offensive jump this year an ability to kill on PnR.

Is this finally the game where Hayward figured out actually shooting at the basket is a good thing? I don't want to jinx it, but I loved the way he finished the game tonight, hated the way he started it.

Bell has absolutely played better, but he has not played well enough to justify 33 and 30 minutes. When you win, you don't mess with the formula. But Raja will revert to his old self very soon. When that happens, we'll be reminded again and again about how he sets the tone or defended Monta Ellis one night.

watch the highlight of hayward's jam on NBA.com.
some Denver player tried to take GH ;s head off after the play was over, lucky he missed.
"Defense to Offense Clip"
i think it was Al Harrington.
Good thing GH ducked

That was the biggest crap call of the night. They let Harrington get away with murder. He was ticked off because he got the ball stolen from him. He tried several times to foul Watson on the fast break but the refs "let it go". So then after Hayward finishes the play he let all his frustration out by swinging a big elbow at his head and again they "let it go". That was a bunch crap if you ask me.

Hollinger's Excellent tweet on us: "Do not go small on Utah. Sap killed Gallinari and Harrington."

So true. Late in the 4th you know Karl regretted putting Gallinari on Sap. But he didn't have a big who could slow him down because if he put Nene on Sap, he had nobody who could guard Al. That's what you call an advantage. (And yeah, Sap even scored on Nene, but Nene would have been the best matchup.)

I do think the minutes tonight were warranted. Corbin kept a leash on CJ tonight, and Burks was let free for awhile even with boneheaded mistakes (1 on 3 fast break with the shot clock off comes to mind).

No Josh Howard, no problem. It was funny reading early in this thread all the four letter words **** when a few people heard he would be out. What those people don't realize is that while Howard has become a pretty good 31 year old player, he simply isn't a difference maker on a basketball team anymore and at his age, unfortunately isn't getting any better. The fact is, his injury, while sad for him, was/is good for the Jazz. The same could be said for both Bell and Miles. These are guys who are known commodities, who aren't getting better, who are keeping guys like Burks and Hayward on the bench more than they should be, and who, ultimately simply aren't going to make a difference in the success of the Jazz - at least no more so than Burks or Hayward would if given their minutes.
