Potential Trade Targets

Listening to Tampering Pod... feel like we are Lakers main way to offload Russell by removing the protections on the pick they owe us. They don't have the excess assets to just send so sending that might be their only hope.
What are we sending out though? Only makes sense if we are moving Clarkson.

Technically they could sell the chance at picks 1-5 to anyone though.

Either sending Clarkson to the Hawks or more likely to the Knicks (for value) and re-routing Fournier.

And offloading Dlo would be part of the Murray trade for the Lakers. That likely wasn't clear.

Also interesting is that OKC has a full roster and 5 plus picks in a mediocre draft. They are going to waste those picks like Orlando is wasting players.
You're right. I'm not big on this draft either. I think we have two tiers of trades - the expirings VS trading for some legit talent.

Simone has been great and I wouldn't be surprised if we signed him though he and Dunn aren't extension eligible. KO has some value and not just because he's expiring. THT will get us something minimal. Dunn is getting paid peanuts so I doubt we move him as I think we'll try to sign him in the offseason - though he's going to get paid compared to what he's getting which is cheap for what he's produced.

Could also do KO or THT and stuff... then do a completely separate JC deal to clear the logjam.

Can they? THat would be a real interesting concept of trade value.

Can you trade hyper specific draft ranges in one draft to separate teams?

Like in one year you trade 10-15 to one team, 16-25 to another, and 26-30 to someone else.

See, that isn't worth a whole lot to me. I'm going to need more or they can just have THT back.
Its fairly valuable to me... if we decide to move that pick the acquirer has so much more certainty and it would be more valuable. We could likely also get the second rounder in 2027 that is currently encumbered by the protections.

Yes. It wouldn't be really valuable as it would be 1-4 or they get nothing. It would be more valuable to us than anyone else imo.

D'Lo has been a positive BPM guy every year of his career since his 4th season in the NBA.

When you fail to meet expectations in LA it just puts such a stench on your value.

You can't design a defense that always dictates who is left open. If a PNR is ran to the right side the guy in the right corner has to help down if the big is any kind of threat.

Again, you are watching a completely different game or just have selective memory if you think THT/Walker are guarded anything like Ochai is on the perimeter.
Here are samples of 3s from recent games still on my DVR. There are really only 2 of his last nine where the shooter closed out timely when he shot. One other he was wide open after he pump faked (Barnes, a good defender was cheating in on the play) and he did get a KO screen on one. The two closest guarded shots were one against Hou (miss) and Tor on the left base line (hit the side of the backboard).

The rest were wide open or very late closeouts from overplaying the middle or the defender got there after his release was long gone.

Simply put, teams are planning defensive breakdowns to have his man recover late.

How are you including a shot where he pump faked a defender off him as part of this?

Also time and score on a few of these explains a lot.

Also yes, Ochai takes the open shots. Just showing the shots he takes is not evidence to how defenses are playing him.

I remember this happening to someone's pick recently, can't remember which team, but I remember if the pick was in the lottery it went to one team and if it went outside the lottery it went to someone else.

I suppose the only way it works is if is 1st where if it doesn't convey it doesn't move forward to future years. I'm pretty sure if the Laker's pick doesn't convey it becomes a second, so in that case you could do it.
