Potential Trade Targets

Listening to Tampering Pod... feel like we are Lakers main way to offload Russell by removing the protections on the pick they owe us. They don't have the excess assets to just send so sending that might be their only hope.
The second year in a row that were the Lakers’ main way to offload Russell.

But I’d definitely do the Elizah Huge trade. We would definitely be juicing DLo’s numbers and someone will definitely have interest in him next season for at least a modicum of returnable value, which is just gravy. It’s like doing the LaVine trade but with less money, less years, and more interest around to league to move the guy. I’m on board if it returns us no ‘27 Laker protections and another pick.

And every team who has traded D'Lo has gotten a nice package in return for him because he played well there.

The Warriors traded him and got pieces back to win a ring. The Wolves traded him and now look like they can contend for a ring. The Lakers traded for him and hell, they got to the Western Conference Finals.

The Lakers are just being the Lakers, a badly run organization who cant manage value.

The Hawks have no picks for a long time. The Jazz could probably throw two immediate picks + swap to get the Lakers 2009. Not that I would do it..but you know Ainge is Ainge and can't help himself.

There are also a couple bad and dumb teams that are clearing enormous amounts of cap space in Detroit and Charlotte. So when they can't find uses for that space there may be a Dlo into space trade one of those teams will make.

DLO vs Clarkson DPM over time:

I would love to get my hands on the 2029 Lakers 1st.

I just cant imagine it's that hard to find a home for D'Lo.

The Pistons wouldnt be giving up 2nd rounders for him?
It’s kinda weird… they live AB and have Cade and Ivey so maybe that’s a factor. The Knicks needing a creator and a contract are the ones I think that should bite here… he’d likely be cool coming off the bench there.

The Knicks may also want Dejounte if they think he fits. Grimes, Fournier and two first-rounders.
If the Knicks want Dejounte they can get him. It sounds like they don’t want to trade that much draft capital for him.

Another thing I would absolutely love to do if I am the Jazz... get one of the picks in the 30s (philly and the Bucks both have one) of this draft or even a couple picks in the 40s. On draft night those can easily turn into a pick in the late mid 20s because the trend is to get those picks if you are a tax team instead of the late firsts for cap reasons. So say you flip KO to Houston for 38/40th picks in the 2nd round... you can likely package that and move to 25 with Denver on draft night. Cetltics, Pacers, Nuggs all did variations of those trade backs.

Not something earth shattering but since we have no firsts this year doing a yankee swap into the end of the first round is something I'd be working on.

I'd be extremely shocked if Clarkson yields Grimes AND a first round pick. I question if he can get either on his own tbh.

Connecting rumors... Bucks would like PJ Tucker... Clips had interest in KO...

Tucker to Milwaukee/Pat Connaughton to Utah/KO to the clips.

The second rounder Milwaukee owns form Porty goes to Utah and Clips send some seconds our way (the ones they have remaining).

There would be some minimums involved as well. I don't love Pat's contract but he's serviceable. I don't love it but its a way to move KO for a great second and a couple other seconds.

I have no links... just based on pods from Katz/Begley/others. I think we are asking for that package. I think if it was just Grimes and Fournier it gets done. Its weird but I think the sentiment with Thibs is once he's out on you its kind of over and it seems they are out on Grimes.

Also it sounds like NY would love to get Brown or AB... but the AB salary match is tricky and Detroit sounds like they would love to re-sign him... and he might be all for that since its likely his last big payday.

I too am skeptical that a pick would be included but I think the bloom is off with Grimes a bit and we might be surprised at what they trade him for. I think picks in this draft also might be a bit undervalued after everyone has been ******** on the draft for a year or so.
