2024 Mock Draft #2

I don’t really see those two as all that similar.
They have similar swing skill (shooting) but are different. I would argue the other stuff Holland has might be better than the other stuff Matas has. Its just hard to hate one at 12 and take the other at 9 ya know.

I wish the jazz were the spurs in this exercise. They are killing it, but instead we are trading back and taking Holland.
lol... getting rid of that obligation is monstrous long term. No worry on losing a 2025 pick... no worry on losing a 2026 pick including two pick swaps... did it all while getting one of the guys I had in that group. If he shoots it then its a home run.

The Memphis Grizzlies are going with Tristan Da Silva at 17.

The griz are in full win now mode and already have their 3 stars in Morant, Bane and Jackson plus a possible future guy in GG Jackson. Da Silva is the perfect complimentary role player that is nba ready and can play multiple positions and a reliable outside shot. I would have stayed at 9 if I thought Edey would be around but knowing Cy had the 7th pick I didn't like the odds.

I would just take Collier/Walter/Salaun/Dadiet over Holland. Just too conditional for him to have success and I dont think the skills outside of shooting are that great.
I'm fine with that. Salaun is a guy I had earmarked. Haven't really watched Dadiet. Walter I am not sure what to think of... Collier I like just keep ending up with all these tweener scoring guards. I would have been good with that too though... figure out the logjam if you really have one.

Collier was the #1 player coming out of high school. That usually bodes well for future success.

Oh I meant the Josh Jackson/Ron Holland comp lol

Oh that one is solid. Physically, shooting issue, high activity guys, both guys had some dawg in them. Josh was bonkers though.

I'm surprised the Demar Derozan comp isn't used more for Holland. Very similar size, athleticism and overall game profile at the same age.
DeMar is the mid-range god and Holland can’t create off the dribble to save his life.

Shooting issue? Jackson shot 38% from 3 and was a dawg on offense. I don’t see the similarity really at all besides size.

You are talking about current Demar. He refined that skill over the years. Also Holland has shown plenty of potential to create off the dribble. Definitely not a weakness for him.

I mean I’m not sure how you figure that. He definitely doesn’t do it from three. Out of 107 attempts he shot 7 off the dribble and made 1 of them.

I am torn on 2 players for Toronto.

Filipowski - Is very similar to Olynyk. They have his mentor on the team. He can play some minutes at the 5 also. He is an OK shooter but could get better.
Tyler Smith - Offers probably more upside and is said to be a hard worker. He is already a good 3-point shooter and is supposedly a decent defender. I like both players
