Should the Jazz "Unleash" Collin Sexton?

for his relationship with his coach, Sexton said Hardy has been just what he needed to take the next step.

"I talked to him yesterday, we had an off day, and he just told me he was going to continue to coach me hard, continue to push me to the best of my abilities," Sexton said. "That's the way I want to be coached. ... I feel like that's how I'm able to get the best out of myself. At the end of the day, I don't expect anyone to give me anything. I feel like I have to earn it and sometimes even take it. That's how I've always been wired."

Hardy's just glad it's been a mutually beneficial relationship.

"He's bought into what we're trying to do and he's gotten better," Hardy said. "He's somebody that has shown me that you don't need to listen to any of (the narratives) at all. You can just take people at face value for how they are when they get here and what they do when they're with our team. He's a big reason why we're playing well right now. His energy is infectious on both ends of the floor. He's a heck of a player and we're lucky to have him."

Yeah I don’t know that I’d pursue him. I would have (and said we should have) multiple times in the past. Nobody wants to buy low, though. People only want to buy high or on the upswing.

He just had a bad playoffs, so I would consider buying at a midpoint.

Why would the Wizards trade a borderline all-star (not that i agree with that assessment) they have locked up long-term on a team friendly deal? Things got to make sense.

Wiz are 2 years away from being 2 years away. So they might move Deni as the utility of his low cap deal will be mostly wasted in Washington. They don't have urgency to do so though so they should wait out and get a big offer. I think they move Kuzma and keep Deni unless someone really ponies up for him.

Very few players are natural point guards. Most have to learn the position. Sexton had a 30% assist rate last year w/ a 12.1% turnover rate

That's good for 19th in the NBA. Put a better team around him w/ less negative players and you might be boosting him a few percentage points. Jalen Brunson is 10th at 33.5%.

the question is, if he was being held back, why were we holding him back? If so, is that reason still in play?

He's a much better player now than he was in Cleveland. Some of it was retraining his bad habits. I think we are probably past a lot of that.

Now that is an answer.

He was held back because he was making too many mistakes and he had too many bad habits (like i said. Hardy was coaching him hard)

We think and hope that sexton is now good enough to not be coached so hard and hardy will allow sexton to play through his mistakes.

That is the question. Will Hardy stop coaching sexton harder than everyone else next season or will that coaching style continue with sexton?

We think and hope that sexton is now good enough to not be coached so hard and hardy will allow sexton to play through his mistakes.

Yeah, really proof you havent read the thread of what I posted because Sexton said he wants to be coached hard and likes the way Hardy has helped him.
