Also, I might add that the case for trying Burks at the PG doesn't necessarily argue that he should be taking over the lion's share of the offensive responsibilities of a PG. They can still run their post-heavy offense with the wings dumping it down to Sap and Al.

More grounds for the argument:
this season might be teaching us that Hayward is a SG. Well, so is Burks. So, we should be evaluating different ways to use them. Hayward a little bit at the 3; Burks a little bit at the 1. try it.

Burks is out of control with the ball and lost as a SG. What does he do currently that makes anyone think he is ready to get time as a PG?
Agree. He looks to me to be still adjusting to the speed of the NBA game. What's impressive though, is despite this, he is still making more GOOD plays than bad. So he is adjusting; just needs more PT and he'll get it. Until we get 'the answer' at SF and Hayward moves to SG, I doubt we'll see Burks at PG.

Could we use our trade exception to pick up Kirk Hinrich?? I don't think a trade for Harris will work, if we want another point guard in return. I like Hinrich a lot more than Calderon, Augustin, and many of the other currently available PGs.

Im thinking we could package a 2nd rounder or two, together with the trade exception, to get Hinrich off of Atlanta's hands. We can then swap Harris to a team for shooting specialist coupled with a few picks, or something.

this would be my preference (subtracting your comment about including picks with TPE...which I'm pretty sure isn't allowed), but I don't see the Jazz brass taking on that much salary. That "shooting specialist" also stands to take minutes away from Hayward and Burks, so there is that to consider, too.

I wonder if KOC can find another trade exception for Harris? Darkwing mentioned Indy's ability to take on Harris with nothing in return... I'm not sure how TPEs are generated, but I'm sure there is something here.

Use one TPE, gain another (with a later expiration date).

Ive thought of this, but there are seriously not very many teams that need a PG in the NBA right now, especially one like Devin Harris. He needs to dramatically improve his stock, because right now, he is approaching a Gilbert Arenas level of worth.

Not sure if Indy will want Harris, and get rid of Collison.

I say we stay put until the middle of the season, unless we get a phenomenal offer.

Agreed, if we dont trade Harris for a PG, I would love to see Burks play ~15min at point. That said we would have to have him play along-side w/ Hayward cause he is a respectable ballhandler/passer.

Unit w/ Burks at PG: Burks-Hayward-Howard-PF-C
This is kinda like Curry/Ellis (no true PG) & gives us a tough defender/slasher in Howard.

I don't think Indy would want Harris so that they could get rid of Collison. Harris becomes a backup and an occasional 2.

Yet he doesn't start. You figure Jrue Holiday or Williams could become available.

yeah, man, I remember all those years the Mavs were dying to get rid of Jason Terry because he didn't start.

Oh, yeah, remember when San Antonio was itching to dump Manu cuz he didn't start?!?!

I wonder what happened with these stupid teams...

Indy is loaded at the 2 position, and I don't think they'll throw away George Hill's minutes to make way for a 9 million dollar backup PG. I just don't see it happening

Well, it's not my idea originally, so I'm not going to really defend it, but there is a case to be made that Harris improves that team by becoming a backup PG and all-purpose guard. Sure, they have some SGs, but Hill isn't a PG... And, if they have the cap room... And, if they are trying to win NOW.... etc.

EDIT TO ADD: right now, acquiring Harris isn't too dissimilar to when the Jazz acquired Jefferson: stock low; team moving in different direction...

If Harris is moved it will have to be in a 3 team deal. I'm guessing Jazz just move him in the offseason.

Ok then Williams it is. They both have starting quality PG's splitting minutes. I doubt they plan on keeping both going foward. But it's just an idea. More plausible than getting Rondo.

Williams for what? The Sixers have the second best record in the Eastern conference.
