Should the Jazz "Unleash" Collin Sexton?

Right agree to disagree, I’m just going to leave this here though. If not for Will, we’d still have the low level Sexton we had when he first got here
No way to know that. Sexton should get some credit for his improvement imo. I find that many young players often improve as they age and reach their prime. Might have happened with Sexton even without hardy. After all many young players in the NBA who aren't even coached by Hardy improve as they get more time in the league.

I would assume that most any coach would try to improve the play of Sexton (any young player really). And Sexton is very coachable.

Anywho in response to the question proposed in the OP, I think Sexton should play more than the 25 minutes per game he has averaged with the jazz going forward.

Though from the discussion I have read in this thread I feel like I'm in the minority on that.

He did start getting more mins as the season went by. In the last 55 games he averaged 29.1 minutes with four straight games in the middle of that where he came off the bench.

In the last month 14 games he averaged 32.5 min. It’s not like he was subbed out after every mistake all year. He was coached hard because he needed to be. He had already been in the league 4 years when he got here. He was in a horrible situation in Cleveland. They drafted him top 10 then James left and that entire org shut down from the players to the coaches. His responsibility was plain and simple shoot shoot Shoot dribble dribble dribble score score score. He had no leash and no support from his teammates who resented him partially because LeBron James left and partially because he had the green light and wasn’t checked and went through three entire seasons, making mistake after mistake after mistake.

I think it was clear from the start that Will had to basically remake him. It was evident from the beginning he needed to be reined in. Coach got him to begin to play at different speeds other then 100 miles an hour at all times. Yes he made the improvement but it came from him humbling himself and taking to Hardy’s coaching. The last month he averaged 6 ast and 21 pts on 32 min per game. I expect that to go up slightly next year. He improved every month of last season, and as he got better he played more and more.

@fishonjazz at first I thought as you did but as I took a closer look, the the collaboration between Hardy and Sexton paid off. Hardy did a hell of a job coaching him and Sexton did an amazing job in humbling himself, taking the coaching even though it was hard. Few players could do that. He did and it’s paying off.
