Donald is about to go through some things...

Corcoran made multiple audio recordings to memorialize his interactions with the former president, including meeting with Trump on May 23, 2022 to discuss his response to a subpoena for any classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago.

During an approximately one-and-a-half-hour meeting with both Trump and attorney Jennifer Little, Trump brought a box to their first meeting to demonstrate its contents, showing the attorneys his newspaper clippings, Post-it notes, and photos, and other materials.

"I don't want anybody looking, I don't want anybody looking through my boxes, I really don't, I don't want you looking through my boxes," Trump said, according to a portion of the notes included in the indictment against Trump. "Look I just don't want anybody going through these things."

Corcoran recalled that he tried to steer the conversation back to the boxes and warned the former president about the legal consequences of not complying with the subpoena.

"Well what if we, what happens if we just don't respond at all or don't play ball with them?" Trump asked, according to a portion of the notes included in the indictment.

"Well, there's a prospect that they could go to a judge and get a search warrant and that they could arrive here and get a search warrant," Corcoran responded.

According to Corcoran, Trump repeatedly asked during their meeting if it would be "better if we just told them we don't have anything here."

During an interview with Smith's team, Little largely corroborated Corcoran's recollection of the meeting, telling investigators that she "very clearly" warned Trump about the seriousness of the subpoena and told him "it's going to be a crime" if he failed to comply

But while waiting poolside at Mar-a-Lago for their next meeting with Trump, Corcoran said Little warned -- based on her conversation with two other Trump attorneys -- that if they pushed Trump to comply with the subpoena, "he's just going to go ballistic," Corcoran noted.

Little added that "there's no way he's going to agree to anything and that, that he was going to deny that there were any more boxes at all," according to Corcoran's notes.
Later in the afternoon on May 23, 2022, Corcoran and Little met with Trump in a small library at Mar-a-Lago, ditching their phones outside the room at the direction of the former president, according to Corcoran.

Sitting feet from Trump across a small table, Corcoran said Trump asked about the legal consequences for complying with the subpoena

According to Corcoran's notes, Trump expressed concerns that returning "additional documents" following the subpoena could become the "basis for criminal liability.

"He asked again, he said -- Well look, isn't it better if there are no documents?" Corcoran noted.

Prosecutors allege that Corcoran's rebuff to Trump's suggestions resulted in the former president adopting a different plan -- deceiving his attorney by having his "trusted body man" and co-defendant Walt Nauta move the boxes from the storage room in Mar-a-Lago to prevent Corcoran from conducting a complete search.

In the days between the May 23 meeting with Trump and Corcoran's June 2 review of the boxes at Mar-a-Lago, prosecutors allege that Trump coordinated for Nauta to remove 64 boxes out of the storage room to Trump's personal residence, where Trump planned to "pick from them," according to text messages between Nauta and a Trump family member. By the time Corcoran returned to Mar-a-Lago to review the boxes, only about 30 of the 64 boxes moved by Nauta were returned for the search.

The following day, Corcoran coordinated for Jay Bratt, then the deputy chief of the Department of Justice's National Security Division, and FBI agents to visit Mar-a-Lago to take custody of the responsive documents.

Corcoran received a panicked call from Trump about the visit from federal officials on the morning of their visit, according to Corcoran's notes.

"Oh that's very bad. What, you know, what do they want? What are they trying to, why are they trying to get something on me again?" Trump said, according to the notes.

While Corcoran emphasized that the meeting was a routine step that he coordinated, Trump still expressed concern that "this is very bad" and was particularly interested in Bratt's attendance at the meeting.

According to Corcoran, Trump personally encouraged showing Bratt and the FBI agents the storage room where the documents were stored, over the advice of Corcoran. According to prosecutors, despite Corcoran's search resulting in return of 38 documents bearing classification markings, Trump still possessed 102 classified documents in Mar-a-Lago -- in part due to his effort to hide documents from Corcoran when he attempted to comply with the subpoena -- which would be discovered when federal agents returned to Mar-a-Lago two months later with a search warrant.

Later that day, Corcoran noted that he received a phone call from Trump, who was onboard his plane en route to New Jersey for the summer.

"Well we're taking off. But look, Evan, don't call me with any bad news, okay? Don't call me with any bad news," Trump said, according to the notes.

I'll take Thomas Jefferson's opinion over yours anyday.
You say you’ll take Thomas Jefferson’s opinion. Prove it. Show me that you are capable of taking Thomas Jefferson’s opinion.

I keep going back to the example of popular laws being struck down as unconstitutional because it is an easy proof that the highest level of power/rule/kratos in our system of government is NOT the popular will of the people.

Every time, or nearly every time, that a stupid law is ruled unconstitutional, it is on the grounds that it violates this or that amendment, with the kings of overturning stupid laws being the original ten amendments in the Bill of Rights. Do you know who it was who initially pushed so hard for those anti-democratic clauses to be enshrined as core to our government? I’ll give you a hint; It wasn’t James Madison who is considered the author of the US Constitution and the author of the Bill of Rights.

The reason it was so easy for me to tell your cited quotes were fake is because I know it was Thomas MutherEffing Jefferson who spearheaded the effort to codify those bulwarks set to protect individual liberties from democracy.

"Within the First Congress, James Madison emerged as the leader of the effort to pass a Bill of Rights. In many ways, the “Father of the U.S. Constitution” was an unlikely “Father of the Bill of Rights.” Like many leading Federalists, Madison did not believe that the Constitution needed a Bill of Rights. First, Madison argued that one was unnecessary. In his view, a Bill of Rights would serve as a mere parchment barrier—providing no real protections for the American people. Madison argued that to limit abuses of power, the key was constitutional structure, not a Bill of Rights—limit the powers of the national government, divide those powers between three branches, and give those branches the power to check one another. Second, Madison argued that a Bill of Rights might even be dangerous. For Madison, the American people’s rights were so numerous that to write them down would be to limit them. In this series of letters, Madison’s friend Thomas Jefferson—abroad in France—urged Madison to support a Bill of Rights. Eventually, Madison did just that—leading the push for a Bill of Rights in the First Congress."

Are you serious? Take a look in the mirror. This place is ridiculously hostile to anyone politically right of center. Both Bucknutz and Douchbag K have been personally attacked incessantly here to the point I'm surprised they've lasted this long.

So many here act like the upcoming Presidential election is life and death. Dear morons, it isn't. We had Trump for President and you were fine. We've had Biden for President and you're fine. Whoever is the next President, we'll be fine. Nothing is worth all the toxicity and meanness being spewed here. It is the cherry on the sundae to wonder why the only people left here all agree with each other. Here is an idea: stop being dicks.

They always tell on themselves.

This election isn’t life or death, for you. This why people like you take a lasse faire and unserious approach to all these conversations and people here rip on you because you act like an *** hole. Imagine that!

None of this really affects you so you can sit back, troll, say whatever, and keep spouting ideas and opinions you really haven’t tested in real life. You obviously live in a conservative bubble, because if you actually said any of your garbage in real life with people who are affected by elections you would get checked. Instead you probably just sit and listen with a dumb smirk on your face. I know your kind, I work and interact with you social morons all the time. Privileged, spoiled and emotionally immature.

People like you need to take a moment and ask yourself how your behavior actually affects those around you. That takes critical thinking, introspection, and real interaction with others different from you.

I appreciate log, fish, BN and the others for actually engaging and listening. I’ve seen them come closer to center of ever the years. It’s made me respect their conservative values more, when I haven’t in the past. I respect them for their willingness to listen and evolve. We all could do more of this.

Your opinions and attitude are trash and people treat you like trash. If you’re wondering why, maybe it’s you.

This is a great post

Those who continue to support Trump in 2024 after everything we’ve seen and continue to see out of this pathetic husk of a man, are either dumber than rocks and/or ****** people. Operate with this understanding and a lot of our trolls/Trump supporters make more sense.

This is insane. We have a new home in Lehi. Not exactly a liberal community. And I have no idea what he’s talking about with shower heads and “restrictors.” The right has quickly become merely a caricature of itself. It’s a spoof.

But sure, give this dotard the nuclear codes so the trolls on here can feel better about themselves.

I don’t think it’s that simple dude. You also have a tendency to over simplify Trump supporters views. Not all of them are stupid and awful. Most have been lied to by every politician they’ve elected. Imagine voting for Bush twice, after all the tea party promises, and then Obama bringing out all their resentment, insecurities and racism to a boiling point. They’re like domestic violence victims. Abused over and over by those they trust. It’s trauma. Now they’ve painted themselves into a corner where our entire system, which they helped create, is still working against their interests and they’re mad. Mad at themselves, but they’ll never admit it. The worst part is they’re dragging us all down with them now, because in the muck is the only place they can possibly succeed. This is where the trolls live and get their dopemine hits, but not all are like this. They genuinely want their leaders to give a **** about their issues, but they never have or will and they’re stuck. It’s sad and destructive.

I'm not wondering why. Log, Fish, and Str8 are wondering why there are no sane conservatives in this forum.

You say you respect BN, but I did not see you once stand up for him against Thriller when he was engaging in those broad brush stereotyping attacks on BN. The ONLY one I watched push back was Sardines.

In that exchange, BN threw me under the bus more than once for exhibiting behavior he felt was unacceptable. None of you, with the sole exception of Sardines, does that to Thriller. You sit quietly or join in on the personal attacks, then wonder later why there are no sane conservatives in the forum.

I'm not the answer to their question.

They want politicians to care about their issues? Like what? Can they even articulate them? The non-existent voting fraud, crime, and recession? Sorry, I can’t tolerate those games, especially if it puts our democracy at stake. Their racism? These are adults. They’re old enough to spend thousands on Trump, tie “**** Joe Biden” flags to their $90,000 dollar trucks, and storm the capitol on Jan 6. They’re old enough to vote and destroy our democracy. If not, they’re free to stay at home.

I treat trumpers as the adults that they’re supposed to be. If they act deplorable or stupid, then I will treat them as deplorable and stupid. Why do we need to continue to coddle these people? No other demographic is treated like this. Did anyone ask that Gore, Romney, or Clinton supporter be treated with kid gloves? I’m sure they were all big angry and sad when their candidates lost.

For the most part, Trumpers are the demo that has had the most privilege in our society. Survey after survey study after study have shown their beliefs to be completely incoherent. It’s not about policy. The primary driver for them? Racism. That’s the primary driver, I can provide you with the studies. And now they’re big angry because a black man won the White House nearly a generation ago? Cmon guys. Time to tell these people to grow the **** up. We the normal people of our society, need to start telling these grown children to grow up.

Btw I’m a liberal in Utah. Think I don’t feel ignored all the time by my politicians? Think liberals across this state don’t feel represented? I mean, districts have been gerrymandered big time and our senators right now are Romney (gop presidential candidate 2012) and right wing troll Mike Lee. Why can’t my behavior be excused? Can I storm the capitol? Why aren’t we allowed to hold our democracy for ransom? We’re the forgotten man! How do we think liberals in Texas feel? How do we think conservative non-MAGAs in Los Angeles feel? We all can’t be a nation of victims who are empowered and excused to do awful things to our fellow American and country, right? So why does MAGA get excused?

Then you aren't seeing things.
I literally said that bucknutz is better than me a few days ago. (Paraphrased). I was calling him out for saying that there are no good conservatives on this site.

I have also called out thriller other times (he is way too partisan) and argued with him many times (had a recent multiple post argument with him where I was defending Trump's handling of the pandemic)

Just an observation. A few weeks ago, our resident Saint @LogGrad98 reminded us to put the trolls on ignore and don’t read their posts, no matter how tempting. I’ve done that and this board has dramatically improved since. Trolls don’t want to actually discuss anything. They just want to bitch and gain attention. Maybe some of our trolls are just angry that they’re not getting the engagement they used to get? Just an observation. Thank you @LogGrad98 for dramatically improving my life.

I stand corrected. Thank you fish.

Na, work just got really busy for me and my attentions had to be focused in that direction. I'm still here. I thought the wondering where the sane conservatives are was funny. I think it funnier still that I get blamed. If you want to blame me for a lack of parents of trans kids in the forums, I'll take the hit, but blaming me for a lack of sane conservatives is ridiculous. I'm not the one constantly attacking them, calling them cultists or some version of retard, or claiming they all believe whatever piece of rage bait you found in your social media feed.

Dude Ive started putting the MAGA crowd on ignore its almost as good as free beer. Also really clears up the space for civilised adult discussion which is nice too

Donald Trump’s campaign is hard at work manufacturing a reason for him to skip Thursday’s presidential debate, and his latest tactic is the most ridiculous one yet.

Trump and his former White House doctor Representative Ronny Jackson, who reportedly kept the former president’s administration “awash in speed,” have repeatedly suggested that President Joe Biden will take performance-enhancing drugs before the debate, as part of their crusade to undermine the event and give Trump a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Trump posted a letter to Truth Social on Monday that Jackson supposedly sent to the White House demanding Biden submit to a drug test before the debate.

“I demand that you submit to a clinically validated drug test in order to reassure the American people that you are mentally fit to serve as President and not relying on performance enhancing drugs to help you with your debate performance,” Jackson wrote. The pill-pushing Texas Republican demanded that the results of the president’s drug test be made public.

All of this concocted drama around drug use, as well as claims that CNN will host a biased debate, positively reek of desperation to get the former president out of Thursday night’s presidential showdown. It’s not surprising, as Trump is not suited to actual debate: His speech is often erratic and incoherent, and he’s prone to going off on tangents. Plus, Trump has historically taken a hit in the polls after debating with Democrats, in 2016, and again in 2020. While Trump loves to hype up a crowd, he’s just not that convincing when he’s sharing the stage.

It also appears that Jackson may soon want to focus on problems of his own. The House Ethics Committee announced Monday that it will review a report from a congressional watchdog that discovered “substantial reason” to believe that Jackson had converted thousands of dollars of campaign money for his own personal use.

Jackson was demoted by the U.S. Navy in 2022 after the Pentagon inspector general found that he regularly drank on the job, berated his subordinates, and acted inappropriately. Last year, Jackson was filmed unleashing a profanity-laced tirade on a Department of Public Safety officer.

Nothing here is germaine to anything I've written, so I assume you are just spouting off for therapy. Hope you feel better.

Trump said, “How about George Washington high school? ‘We want the name removed from that high school.’ They don’t know why. You know, they thought he had slaves. Actually I think he probably didn’t.’”
George Washington owned slaves. We know this by his own hand. He kept ledgers on everyone he enslaved.
Washington inherited 10 slaves from his father at age 11. The Mount Vernon website notes that “as a young man, Washington purchased dozens of enslaved people from estate sales and in private transactions” – and that the first US president also rented slaves from others, inherited them from siblings, and enslaved the children who were born to slaves at Mount Vernon. When he married his wife Martha, the website notes, he also gained control of “a large number” of enslaved people from the estate of her first husband.
The list of 317 enslaved people at Mount Vernon at the time of his death included 41 people rented from other plantations and 153 people from Martha’s first husband’s estate.

- Trump claimed Democrats rigged the 2020 presidential election, his usual debunked lie.

- Trump claimed “every legal scholar” wanted Roe v. Wade overturned and the power to set abortion policy returned to individual states, which is not true.

- Trump claimed “just about all the Democrats” also wanted Roe overturned and abortion policy set by states, though Democrats overwhelmingly supported the preservation of Roe.

- Trump claimed “there are states that allow” the execution of babies after birth, though that is illegal in every state.
- Trump claimed that the US has record inflation, though the current inflation rate, 3.3% in May, is nowhere near the US record (23.7% in 1920) or even the 40-year high (9.1%) that was hit in June 2022.

- Trump claimed the price of bacon has increased 100% or more under Biden, though the Biden-era increase is actually about 17% as of May.

- Trump claimed Biden was the person who indicted him in the New York criminal case in which he was convicted on 34 felony counts, though a grand jury of ordinary citizens indicted him and the prosecution was led by a local district attorney who does not report to the federal government.

- Trump claimed the global prison population is “way down” under Biden because foreign leaders are emptying their detention facilities to send people to the US as migrants. But the global prison population is actually up since 2021, and there is no proof of Trump’s repeated claim about foreign leaders’ actions.

- Trump claimed crime in Venezuela is down 72%, though the limited available numbers show a much smaller decline of about 26%.

- Trump claimed crime in the US is “so much up,” though preliminary statistics show US crime dropped significantly in 2023 and again in the first quarter of 2024.

- Trump claimed he has been indicted more than notorious gangster Al Capone, though Capone was actually indicted more than Trump.

- Trump claimed China paid the entire cost of his tariffs on imported Chinese goods and that “the American people didn’t pay for it at all,” though study after study has found that Americans paid the overwhelming majority of the cost of the tariffs.

- Trump claimed the Biden administration is trying to require Army tanks to be all-electric, though the military’s move toward electric vehicles does not include tanks.

Trumps lips were moving so............. tons of lies.

He's scared:

Former President Trump's campaign is openly brawling with CNN ahead of Thursday's blockbuster presidential debate, warning of a "three against one" ambush that can only favor President Biden.
Why it matters: Trump and his allies are "working the refs" by attacking them — seeking to set expectations early by accusing CNN moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash of anti-Trump bias.
  • CNN anchor Kasie Hunt abruptly ended an interview with Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt Monday morning after Leavitt repeatedly tried to raise Tapper's past critical coverage.
  • The reaction from MAGA world was swift and deafening, prompting CNN to issue a statement defending Tapper and Bash amid the flood of pro-Trump criticism.
What they're saying: "This proved our point that President Trump will not be treated fairly on Thursday. Yet he is still willing to go into this 3-1 fight to bring his winning message to the American people, and he will win," Leavitt tweeted.
Zoom in: Thursday's prime-time showdown marks the first time in decades that a single TV network — and not the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates — will organize a general election debate.
  • The moderators and their role in live fact-checking are under intense scrutiny given Trump's long-running war with CNN and false claims about the 2020 election.
  • CNN political director David Chalian told the New York Times that Tapper and Bash would focus on "facilitating the debate between these candidates, not being a participant in that debate."
The big picture: Trump's own rhetoric has fluctuated wildly when it comes to expectations for Thursday night's affair.
  • After calling on Biden to debate him "anywhere, anytime, any place" — and saying he'd be "willing to take anybody" as moderator — Trump complained Saturday that the debate format is "like death."

  • The former president also suggested last week that Biden would be a "worthy debater," raising expectations after months of claiming his rival could barely walk or form sentences.
  • Trump then called on Monday for Biden to take a drug test ahead of the debate, as his allies promoted the baseless conspiracy theory that the president took stimulants for his fiery State of the Union address.
Between the lines: Trump's playbook is well-worn by now: Claim the odds are "rigged" against him — in debates, in elections and in courtrooms — and then ride the outrage if he loses.
The bottom line: Suggesting Democrats could replace Biden as the nominee if he performs poorly, Trump quipped earlier this month: "I'll make sure he stays. I'll lose the debate on purpose, maybe I'll do something like that."
