Damn that would be a shortsighted move. The more I think about the trade the more I dislike it for Houston. I thought that swap next year had a very good chance at being top 5 and the same goes for the nets unprotected 26 pick. To give up a really good opportunity for Boozer or Dybansta in 26 is a big mistake.

That really isn't very much because it is only the 27 suns pick and a possible 2025 pick swap. At least those are the picks I have heard of so far.

It looks like the rockets are also receiving the more favorable 1st rd pick between the Mavs and Suns in 29 so that improves it quite a bit.
 
This is an all in move. It doesn't make sense unless they pay OG. He will get his bag...

And if they do, then why not give OG his bag here in Utah to pair him with Lauri?
 
I would have given 4 firsts for Mikal last year. But after his 2023 / 24 season, the price should have gone down.

Getting 6 picks from the Knicks is insane.
Trade Lauri to the Rockets for 7 picks and break the market again Da'ainge!!!
 
I don’t see how you see this and can’t at least consider trading Lauri for picks now. We’re not going to be able to “big game hunt” with the picks we have right now. So unless our pick this year turns into a Donovan Mitchell like star immediately, Lauri is going to spend his prime with us being the lone star. And all that means is being a lotto team that isn’t drafting high enough to actually improve.

I’d seriously consider trading Lauri and going for broke with picks. Hoping to draft our way back into contention by 2028. We aren’t going anywhere anyway. Might as well go young and play the long game.

I have to imagine they think they can keep him. Otherwise this trade is just plain stupid(replacing OG for Bridges for that stupid haul). Not that it isn't stupid now, but... even more stupid than it already is. They balked at 3 unprotected for Mitchell last year and now are giving up like... 4 unprotected + swaps + second + protected 1st for a great player whose best role is probably as an off-ball 3 and D wing. He's amazing in that role, but still....

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. #MaxLeverageAchieved
 
Also... what are the Rockets doing? Their part of this deal might be even more stupid than the Knicks part...
