2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Burst is good. The speed is not.
You mean like first step? Yeah, I could see that holding him back a bit, but he's so good off the catch and he can destroy closeouts with one dribble pulls or getting all the way to the rim. He's got more size than Allen which will help him be aggressive in the paint and shoot over defenders

For the record, this isn’t a hill I’m gonna die on. I’m making takes a little but I’m also being sincere in my not-too-researched belief.

Listening to the Holland section now. Duncan is fairly combative for a podcast so I think that got Givony going.

Usually Givony pod appearances I hear the host just goes with what he says and Duncan seems to be pushing his own opinion more than most.

I didn't find it that combative...I thought it was really entertaining to see how different Givony thinks compared to what's on ESPN's big board. Like way he talks about Castle (#6) and Clingan (#7) is crazy.

Where did you see this? Last updated one was midnight with Dillingham from what I can see.
i honestly don't know what i was looking at as i just saw the same thing you did with Dillingham. i wondered if it was the ringer since those are the only two mocks i've seen in the last few days and they have the jazz taking Holland. so who knows wtf i was seeing.

interestingly, those are the top two on my wishlist - which unfortunately means neither of them are in play for utah at 10.

Combative may not be the right word, argumentative/opinionated/etc. like I said most Givony podcast appearances are just "you're the expert let me hear you" but Duncan had his own opinions and that seemed to make the time different

He’s not quick, though. The speed of the burst is what’s most important. Grayson Allen can “get up” too, he just has to load up in a way that makes his hops worthless.
Allen might be a solid comp... like a bigger Allen. I think he will shoot it and be able to create off close outs. The lateral movement and defense are bigger concerns than athleticism (lateral movement obviously a big component of athleticism). Knecht isn't my first choice but there aren't many guys I hate in our range... I understand the theory behind all these guys.

How does Givony talk about Clingan?

Curious to see if the PG domino drops... also curious to see if Philly does something or waits. I think there are going to be a couple pretty big shifts. If something shakes loose we are in position to strike in almost any direction. Kinda exciting... prepared to be let down of course.

I think he's THJ.

Oof, just realized it doesn't start until 8pm est. How long does the first round usually last? Is it going to be extended this year since they are only doing the first round tonight?

I'm hoping we trade up so I can go to bed early.
There is always 30 minutes of dumbass pre draft nonsense too. I just hope they pick a decent draft song.

Dante didn't come for a workout either, but we still got him. I don't think this will stop us from drafting him.
Dante was basically being compared to Kobe. He was being billed as a can’t miss prospect.
I think worst case Knecht is a smaller Utah Bogey and best case he's a more athletic Atlanta Bogey
Wally Szczerbiak? Also, if Chris Mullin would succeed today, why not Knecht who I view as more athletic. Not saying Mullin would be just fine today I don’t know. Also not comparing the two.
