I said like 4 months ago that if we draft 3 guys without adding anyone you all should look at that as a sign.

It would be kinda wild to project even a play in spot for the current roster. I mean sure, players develop but this is the same team that absolutely plowed the entire post ASB part of the schedule.

So unless dramatic things happen, this is obviously a tank year, but it could another "IDGAF about results trade DL tank" as they are probably happy with the results from past 2 such tanks.
Good post. Ya this is a very tankable roster. We should be really bad. I don't think Sexton will handle that very well. Probably time to trade him to be honest. He is way too intense and competitive for a tank team.

To the poll, the answer is "No".

DA will not trade him just to make the team worse, and he shouldnt. If we were to land one of the top prospects of next draft, then it accelerates our timeline back to where Lauri fits it pretty well.

If we dont land one of the top prospects, then its not like Lauri should lose a bunch of trade value. I think he will have a better season next year, now that the whole military service thing isnt bothering his offseason work.

Another thing that hasn't been talked about much is if we do in fact land a top 3 pick next year then we could actually trade it (not saying I want that) and accelerate the time even faster to line up with lauri

I have a bunch of calls midday... so the way this works is 5 minutes before **** will go down and I will be oddly distracted during all the calls. keep your eyes open today.

No chance. While the draft was a good reminder to be weary of the reporting, R+E makes the most sense. He cannot extend with another team, so his value will be inherently worse to the team trading for him.

Jazz may not have their own draft pick next year so full tank may not help
Can somebody figure that out Thank you :) :) :)
Full tank is exactly how they keep their draft pick actually

I don't like speaking in absolutes in this league. I maintain its like less than 5%. Teams and owners go full stupid sometimes and change your plans. I think he has more value on the contract we give him this summer. I think if we trade Lauri it might be because someone offers up a top 5 pick next year around the draft. Right now I think the keep Lauri tank is the leader in the clubhouse with a possibility of a mild win now move that pisses all the tankers off as a close second.

I have it less than 1%. I think the first plan would be to get FA almost guy like Bridges or Harris (for the record I hate this plan). After that Lauri+tank is probably the backup plan.

A scenario where Lauri does not R+E seems almost impossible to me. IDK, maybe some team who strikes out gets ancy and we get a DWill to BKN like situation.

True. Either way, it seems like next season will be interesting just for the kids. At least we got plenty of them.

Ya know, LaVine (and some filler and sweeteners) for double-JC is looking better and better in contrast
This whole idea is really growing on me. I hate the idea of another season or seasons (more likely, I suppose) of suckage, so I'm all in on giving up that stupid OKC pick and getting to the playoffs. Dallas just showed that anything can happen, and Lavine, for all his faults, is a really good player.

I'd do JC^2 for Lavine straight up, I think. I'd certainly do it if there was some sort of compensation.

Then we like it for different reasons: I don’t think LaVine helps winning much, especially if this year’s focus is on rehab.

I agree that we need at least 2 young prospects in addition to the draft picks. I’m not interested in Mikal Bridges like haul with no prospects.

Agreed we need to be looking for quality, not quantity. HOU is rich in picks and ready made prospects. I think Kuminga and Moody are interested but I find the HOU players more intriguing.

I wouldn't mind it either way. I think the more likely outcome is we keep him. And unless we do something stupid we have a good chance to keep the tank on even with Lauri on board.

I'd actually keep everyone outside of Clarkson unless the rockets opened the gates. We could have a really fun team if we get Flagg.
