What's new

Your ideal Lauri trade package?

If you get rid of Lauri who are you building around? I'm actually fine with a real rebuild but the Jazz need to pick a plan.
Thunder are good now and have all sorts of picks available.

Remember - Lauri is a free agent after this upcoming season and so we would get a lot more value signing him first (and if we signed him we might as well keep him until one of the young guys shows he is a legit replacement).

Without signing him we would probably get two 1sts and a nice rotation player. Signing him would make much more sense but if for some surprising reason he's unwilling or the Jazz can't agree on a number with him and his agent then we might as well get something for him.

One blue chip rookie contract player (not like guaranteed star good, but I guess Jabar Smith esque quality, not Cason Wallace)and at least 2 high quality unprotected first that are from teams with a dicey future outlook and two additional lower quality first.
Pretty sweet package right there.

So many ham sandwiches. Soooooo many. Maybe all of the ham sandwiches. All. Of. Them.

You forgot to include Amen (for future trade) and some 2nd round picks. All their assets or eff all the way off.
Yeah I'd include Amen as well but kinda want Sheppard because we would struggle mightily with shooting/spacing once we lose Lauri. We are amongst the bottom half of teams in terms of 3pt shooting percentage already. We can't afford any more non-shooters in the rotation.

I really prefer to keep Lauri and build around him, but the timelines just don't match up. Houston makes a lot if sense as a trade partner because they want to win now and have tradable assets including a 2025 pick swap with the Nets.

Nevermind. The Nets got their own pick back.

Yeah... sign first. What are the rules for a S&T?
R&E or new deal at FA are the only ways to get a deal Lauri would accept.

S&T deals cant be renegotiated, so they max at 140% annual raises which puts the total contract value too low.

That is also a reason why there wont be no grandfather offers and this whole convo is futile.

If Jazz R&E Lauri in July or very early August, then he would become trade elibible before February DL and this conversation would then be much more legit.

OKC's picks aren't amazing. They have volume but they are just OK.

2025:

OKC
Pick Swap with Houston or Clippers (likely a 14ish pick)
Utah (protected 1 - 10) - not likely to happen and it becomes top 8 protected in 2026. If it doesn't convey by 2026 then there is no obligation to convey.
Miami (protected 1 - 14) - likely a 16 - 18 pick

2026:
OKC

2027:
Denver
Clippers Swap
OKC

2028:
Dallas
OKC

2029:
Denver
OKC

2030:
OKC

Do you get traded in a Lauri trade (you're a Finn right)?

Really appreciate your cap knowledge and insight
