Those Knick picks were mostly trash.

I think the problem that you have here is that you are overrating the Bridges haul. First round picks from the 2nd best team in the East are not the end-all be-all. The Knicks are going to win a lot of games in the East, and they are now deep enough to avoid sucking because one guy goes down.

The Jazz do not need to trade Lauri today, he is not forcing his way to the Warriors. He only gets more value if we sign him. Yes, it will not be a "slightly disappointing" haul.
Not to mention they got Randle who wasnt even part of their playoff run last year due to injury.

Their best players are also all under 30. Brigdes 27, Brunson 27, OG 27 (in few days), Divincenzo 27, Hart 29, Randle 29.

Trading Lauri to the Warriors for a player or two and picks sounds pretty damn good if trading him is the way we want to go. The ideal situation would be to pick up a good player from the Warriors, an OK pick in 2026 and trade a couple of their own picks back for Lauri in 2027, when we should be pretty good.

Edit; With Donovan`s new contract, we could sign him as a free agent too in 2027. ;)

How much of our capspace can we use to renegotiate and extend Lauri? What would his new contract be like?

Would he be more valuable now on 1 year 18M contract or next year on 4 years 150 or whatever his deal would amount to?

He's more valuable on a longer contract, but potentially easier to match salary on his current contract.

How many young players do we want though? Kuminga, Moody, George, Hendricks, Williams and Collier will just cannibalize one another.

In all honesty, I’m okay with that. Let competition sort out who stays and who goes. Jazz just need to decide who they want to build around long-term and the only way to do that is to play them lots of minutes.

Good post. Ya this is a very tankable roster. We should be really bad. I don't think Sexton will handle that very well. Probably time to trade him to be honest. He is way too intense and competitive for a tank team.

This is exactly what I’m thinking…

Now we are trading Sexton too?

I want playtime for the youngins too, but at some point you need some kind of veteran influence. At the very least this team needs some kind of north star to coalesce and grow around. There's tanking and then there is maleficence.

I don't think the Jazz ultimately trade Lauri to Golden State. I think the rumored best offer is bait on a hook. We aren't going home with the bait fish.

You seeing something or just speculation?

I need to rewind time to when I was a Sexton hater so I can gloat.

I really dont mind adding Walker to any Lauri trade to ensure the best package. I just dont value Walker all that much and I'm not excited to watch him at all.

If a Lauri trade doesnt happen today I'm going to guess we wont hear many substantial rumors until we get within a week of him becoming extension eligible.

KOC proposed Murray/Huerter/All Kings picks for Walker and Lauri.
I like Murray but Kings LOVE him. I am fine with this type of deal. Murray/Hendricks/Williams at least gives us some interesting wing options for when we land a #1 type. I doubt Kings move Murray.

I might be on an island here but I love pick swaps. I think they’re undervalued. I’d be fine with the Warriors package if we did get 3 firsts and 4 pick swaps.

If I get the picks I try to strip them of as much other stuff as possible. I like Moody and think he could rise up with Klay out of the way. I don't want to leave them something we could have had that will bite us later. I think JK could end up being a trap so I'm okay leaving him there. If they are paying Steph, Green, Lauri, Wiggins, JK's salary could get dicey.

Ya know... if you could get Murray, Huerter, CARTER, and picks in 28/30 with super swaps in 27/29 and a regular swap in 31. I'd do that. They will fight tooth and nail to keep Murray. They also owe a pick to Atlanta you have to work around. If we go young I wouldn't mind having Harrison Barnes as an adult in the room either.

I think I'd have that convo at least and if you trade Lauri you can come back to the Kings with a Walker for a pick trade maybe.
