At the 23 minute mark of the documentary there is a video of a Ronald Reagan speech where he says "so help us God, we will make America great again"

Where have I heard that before?

Really good documentary.

What is the simple definition of hate speech?

In common language, “hate speech” refers to offensive discourse targeting a group or an individual based on inherent characteristics (such as race, religion

To provide a unified framework for the United Nations to address the issue globally, the UN Strategy and Plan of Action on Hate Speech defines hate speech as…any kind of communication in speech, writing or behaviour, that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or a group on the basis of who they are, in other words, based on their religion

Now that we've shown by definition, word for word, legal definition that fish openly spews LITERALLY is hate speech...Im open to any other definitions to provide me wrong...

History shows that hate speech has also been intentionally used to mobilise groups and societies against each other in order to provoke violent escalation, hate crime, war and genocide.

One thing that I find strange and contradictory about project 2025. They want to shift power from agencies to the Oval Office. They want to transfer more power to the executive (the president). The supreme court seems to want to make the president more powerful as well. Then right after saying they want to shift power from agencies (lots of people) to the president (one person) they also say that “The presidency is the way that the people can exercise control over the government" So they want the people to have more control but they also want to shift the power from agencies (people) to the president (a person).
Strange.

I guess the thinking is that the people vote the president in but didn't vote the department of education, FBI, FDA etc in so that is why the people have more power if the president has more power.

I don't really buy it though

I think it means they feel they can have more control over an election than they can over a given department in the government. Consider the Russian interference case, for example. And now the president has power to simply stay in office by presidential decree as an official act. The rich seriously want to make us a full-on plutocracy and this us how they are going about it.

Im almost done with that Bad Faith documentary. You should give it a try. Its really good and eye opening. Highly recommend it. I found the first half to not be as good as the second half. It gets really good from the middle to the end.

Im a huge supporter of religion. I think its fantastic for a lot of people for a lot of reasons. I often wish I was a believer. But I dont think that religion should shape policy in government and I dont think religion should be forced on anyone.

One thing from the movie that really made sense to me was when they talked about how all these followers of christ could follow someone with such poor morals like trump (which has always perplexed me) and of course they mentioned some of the crazies that think of trump like king cyrus from the bible. Basically that like king cyrus, trump is a changed man now. But what made much more sense was that the leaders of this religious movement to take over government saw trump as a useful weapon. A wrecking ball. They threw their support (and money) behind him not because they think he loves christ or god or religion but because they knew he could be used to wreak havoc and chaos in government. They wanted him to tear everything down to the studs. Then they could rebuild the government to be more favorable to religion (but not all religion, a very specific religion) and make laws that follow the teaching and beliefs of their religion and rule in that way.
That made much more sense. They dont, and never did, think that trump is like them. Religious and following the teachings of christ. They just saw him as a useful wrecking ball.

Another great point from the film was how someone spoke about how politics used to be where people had different political views and one side thought their views were correct and other peoples views were incorrect. Which is fine. Agree to disagree and all. Since trump came to power for some people (im hoping its still just a small minority) it is "my political views are God's and they are righteous. Your political views are Satans and you are vile and evil and need to be vanquished and destroyed to save this country that God loves". Good vs Evil. That is a huge change. And its garbage. Those people who think that way probably would think im evil because I dont go to church. Im definitely not evil though.

As I look around the world the places that seem the worst for people to live in are the ones in which a religion and religious leader are in control.

Why does the US want to follow in Iran's footsteps? I know the answer, it's because they think Iran is bad because Islam is bad. And since Christianity is good then the US will be better if we were a Christian nation giving authority to Christian leaders and Christian ideology.

They are wrong, of course. Religiously controlled nations are the worst nations. Period.

One thing I don't understand is that conservatives want to tear down all these agencies. The FBI, education, FDA, EPA etc.
I mean if I put myself in the shoes of a fox News viewing far right maga trumper then I understand wanting to tear down education and FBI. You think the education system is grooming your child to be a sex crazed white person hater (I don't see that at my daughter's school at all but I digress) and you want that to stop so I understand. You think the FBI is coming after conservatives and Christians and Republicans so you want it dismantled. I get it.

But the FDA? How are they slanted for liberals and against conservatives? I have worked at a food processing plant for 21 and a half years. We have to follow tons of FDA rules and regulations. They are all about pasteurizers heating product to a certain temperature to ensure that micro contamination that could make our customers sick are destroyed. That the PH levels are accurate and in range. That pipes are placed specifically to avoid drain sludge from being able to back up into the pipes that could come into contact with product. Things like that. They do audits to verify we are monitoring our HACCP (hazard analysis critical control points) I went to a facility in Brazil and spent a week there. They do stuff that we, by law, aren't allowed to do. They are putting their customers at great risk for their product to contain yeast and mold and salmonella and harmful allergens and Enterobacteriaceae bacterias.
The FDA is a good thing. It isn't liberal.

The EPA job is to make our air, water, soil etc tolerable for us to live in and around.

I guess maybe it all comes back to good vs evil. God vs Satan. If the left, who is evil and satanic, is supportive of the EPA and the FDA then those things just be evil and have Satan's backing.

Can you show me where Trump or Fox News(Fox might but you lie so much I want proof) says any of this blatant lie? Why do you have to lie about everything you ever say? You're getting so amazingly desperate you have to lie about stuff like this. I think you enjoy lying actually...

I remembered Trump is the one to suggest it. And it’s not the main issue at all. I actually agree with much of your overall take, since you’ve posted in GD, i was shaking my fist at the uniparty when Vietnam was tearing the country asunder, I’m reminded of my youth. If it were up to me, Columbus would have stayed home. But, as many problems as I do have with Western civilization, (and prefer to listen to the Kogi people of Columbia when judging where mankind stands at the moment: we are living wrong, completely out of harmony with our mother, the Earth), nonetheless, despite being no real fan of modern society, I am still able to see absolutely no good coming of putting such an intellectually incurious man, who rallies supporters via hate and anger, including identifying “the other” upon wish to place the blame for all his followers ills, into power again. I can think Western civilization took a disastrous wrong turn long ago, without compounding this nation’s troubles with a man who leads DEMS, and whose followers are warmongering psychopaths. Things are bad enough…………….
If I change like two words it would show the blatant hypocrisy especially after what happened today. Who is leading all of our troubles today?

Well, once Trump returns to the Oval Office, and with both houses in GOP hands, and a Supreme Court down with a unitary executive view of the presidency, and down for authoritarianism, and Trump increases his rhetoric of hatred toward any American who opposes him, and when he orders the military to break up any demonstrations aimed at protesting his actions and rhetoric, I imagine I will still hold to the same opinion I hold now.

The past INFORMS the present. I suppose I have only myself to blame for focusing on 20th century fascist movements decades ago. But, it did help me recognize who Trump was, and what he likely represented the day he descended the escalator in Trump Tower in 2015, and told his potential followers who “the other” was that they now had permission to hate and place the blame for all of the ills engendered within a society undergoing extreme social, cultural, and economic stressers.

That understanding on my part isn’t going anywhere. I have seen this movie before!

I don't have any troubles. Then again, I don't rely on the government to take care of me. Which party is in power has no effect on my happiness and lack of troubles.
Basically, YOU are leading your own troubles, to answer your question.

Sure fish has a full time job and somehow also spent probably 10 hours a day for the last decade complaining about trump in this forum. He doesn’t depend on the government. Haha…

Be like Fish.

To you trump = America so I get why this could be confusing to you.

But me complaining about trump actually isn't the same as complaining about America.

America is awesome. Trump sucks.
This might be confusing for you but both things are true.

Prior to yesterday, Biden needed to hold on for a couple more weeks and it seemed like there was some circling back to accept Biden as the nominee. With this much of a distraction, it pushes all that out and prevents a late-stage swap. So, the answer to the OP as to who will replace Biden, the most obvious answer ends up being obvious: Trump.
