And again, you see the right in complete freak out right now. They’re calling Harris DEI. They’re calling this a coup. They cant make up their mind whether Harris is weak or strong. They’re defending Biden and calling this illegal while also calling Biden a drooling fool who can’t tie his own shoes.

Pretty obvious that their plans have been scrambled with this patriotic move by Biden. Now they’re the one with the old dementia ridden candidate. Just a reminder, Trump is the oldest candidate in history.

This is a good article. The choice is clear.

Biden’s decision is now also a challenge to every voter in the pro-democracy coalition to live by their words. For two years, many Americans lamented the choice between the aging Biden and the dissolute, unbalanced Trump. Their wish has been granted: They will now likely have a choice between a shouty, 78-year-old habitual liar whose life is a record of shame and failure and a 59-year-old woman who has served honorably as a big-state attorney general, a senator, and the vice president of the United States.

Harris has her critics, and she will bring her own vulnerabilities to a campaign. Every American should assess her record with judicious skepticism, as they would that of any other politician. But in the end, if the vice president is the eventual nominee, she will be a candidate similar to many others throughout American history who can claim a long record of senior-government experience. (Like Trump, for example, she has been given briefs on nuclear-launch procedures. Unlike Trump, she almost certainly understood them.)

Every voter who cares about democracy but has claimed to be paralyzed by the two old men in the race will now have no excuses for indecision. The Democrats have made clear that they intend to field a stable, experienced candidate. The Republicans, a cult of personality in the grip of fevered delusions, will field Trump. Tonight, Americans have the clarity they demanded.

DEI... Dude, she was the ****ing VP. She beats Trump in more than a few polls and Biden doesn't step aside unless the numbers supported it. Nearly all of the party, the donors, and leadership has rallied around and endorsed her. Find some new talking points.

Whinging about DEI is so lame.

Democrats have a handful of really good politicians who are so much more articulate and not compromised who would be a much better choice than Harris. Same as the Republicans who also had many far better choices that the narcissist who now has a God complex if he didn't already have one. Shame. Pete B would've been an excellent choice that really could've swung things.

and sorry anyone who denies Harris was 100 % DEI and not merit is nothing more than a blinkered fool Enjoy the coming all round ********

Yes on the Dems, Although between Pete, Big Gretch and the others you might like, compared to Coconuts, the policy prescriptions aren't going to change at all, really. As long as she wins, I don't give AF.

No for the Republicans, only Trump has the sauce, but they're all basically demons just with different levels of negative charisma

Sorry for the multiple posts. I wanted to catch up.

Here are my general thoughts. Respond if you want.

1. Kamala is nobody's first choice, obviously. It's still better than Joe Biden staying in the race and like I said before, its possible that the best dem candidates don't want to waste their budding political capital on a campaign this year, under these circumstances. It's also possible that they may not want to put their name out there in the name of party unity. (**** you Joe Manchin)

2. With that said. Trump is a historically disliked candidate. Biden won in 2020 because people hate him. Dems don't need their best to beat him. You just need to be better than Hilary Clinton in 2016 and Trump is no longer the outsider candidate. He has all of the baggage of his first admin, Jan. 6th and a felony conviction.

3. The progressive caucus, the politicians who most closely align with working-class interests, were pushing for Joe to stay. I think this is because they were going to get concessions after showing him they were his strongest allies. Obviously, Brandon couldn't stay but the one endorsed by him may still be grateful for the loyalty shown. It's wishful thinking but I hope that we get some more momentum towards an even more progressive and Socdem forward admin.

4. Overall, my attitude is to wait and see how things play out. Kamala has no charisma but hopefully she stays off of the Xanax and we all can see an aggressive and confident woman unburdened by what has been.

5. @The Thriller Chill TF out. I'm pretty sure many of us here complaining that Kamala sucks still agrees that she's better than Brandon, and leagues better than Trump. Getting after the posters because they don't immediately get behind the decisions made by the DNC is crazy because they objectively suck, like all the time. We can hate the dems and still end up voting for them because we can, surprisingly, hold two thoughts in our head at the same time. Give us some credit.

What the Democrats need is an intelligent, charismatic, experienced politician who is youthful and a national brand. Do they have it? Is there an alternative from the business world?

That seems pretty reasonably and not remotely biased of you

Yeah, that's about the long and skinny of it. Most of us are arguing semantics.
