Conspiracy Theory Corner

I think the best case and most reasonable expectation for tanking with Lauri is a top 6 pick. I currently really like at least 6 players in the 2025 draft, so that sounds pretty good, but to say the 6th pick of the draft is going to be better than Ingram within Lauri's contract is super high expectations.

I've been a proponent of the tank with Lauri plan, but I think there are risks, considerations, and disadvantages to that plant that don't get discussed as much as they should.
But the cool thing about tanking is we can tank AND then build afterwards. If we build now then the tank option kinda gets ****ed.

I want to both get a young talented cheap player from the loaded draft next year AND get a very good player to add to the 2025 draft pick. I think that is very possible. It's not like Ingram is a perennial all-star. He has one fringe all star appearance in his 8 year career. I think guys like that will be gettable in the future to add to the dude we tank for.

Wow, that's pretty cool that Key flies to Finland to work out with Lauri. They both seem to be super hard workers, so it's probably good for both of them.

Imagine if Key is there and Lauri gets traded though... would be super awkward.
Aren’t there better Basketball trainers in the US though?

I'm pretty sure we broke off the talk negotiations earlier. I think they told GS they wanted everything and GS prolly thinks they will circle back... but they won't. Guessing they have the extension basically worked out already. Its a big piece and there may be a thing or two up in the air... so you hold off the other signings so that you don't mess up the order.

Actually it doesnt.

You can trade for BI, and as long as you can pull it off with Walker/Sensabaugh/Collins, you dont give up any future assets. You can then see if it works/doesnt, or to what degree it works, then pivot in 2026 to tank (trade Lauri on a full contract that is a higher value) and tank in 2026.

Still crazy to me that a lot of people here arent considering the fact Lauri can get better and make (effective) tanking practically impossible....

I keep discussing this under the caveat that Ingram is available for Collins and a first. That's probably way off and would require Kessler or more picks as well. If it is Collins and a first, I doubt we can find that good of a deal for a player as good as Ingram in the future.

Collins/Walker/Sensabaugh (they can sell it as a first)

If you just look at Brice's raw stats in SL and ignore turnovers, you can convince your fans you got a very good young player.

And yeah, that seems low for BI. But they need a center badly badly and they probably want to move Murphy in as a starter.

Utah is the only team who may be interested in BI who has a center that fits the Pelicans needs (good, starter quality, cheap)

His basketball trainers probably travel with him (both private and whoever the Jazz assign to him). Important to get work in with your team's best player.

And Im sure Finland is probably a great travel spot in July.

Just reading up on the Pelicans, it seems like they have this hope they can get Allen for Brandon Ingram, so it would be quite the letdown
